Welcome to The Half, our detached, private casita at The Epic, an experiential vacation rental, in a 1925 home on the National Register of Historic Places.
Swim in our private pool. Sun up on the deck. Enjoy complimentary in-room delivered baked goods, or Sat./Sun. brunch*. Housekeeping, BBQ grill, laundry, massage, and other services available for extra fees.
Walk to the Intercoastal. A short drive to: Coastal beaches; Rosemary Square; Downtown; Palm Beach International Airport; the Brightline® high-speed rail to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami; Palm Beach, and Worth Avenue.
We’re new to VRBO, but we’ve been a “superhost” as a vacation rental property under the current ownership since June, and prior to that for another two years.
COVID-19 (Corona virus) Update:
WE ARE CURRENTLY OPEN FOR BOOKINGS, WITHOUT “ESSENTIAL” TRAVEL RESTRICTION.
We normally sanitize our spaces, wear gloves, and have an excellent set of standards and practices regimen for cleaning. In addition, we’ve added MERV-13 filters at The Half, replaced at each visit. There will be a forty-eight (48) hour block between guests, to allow cleaning and proper space rest to reduce the risk of transmissible illness.
The Half has a kitchenette, with:
• Keurig® coffee maker
• Nespresso® coffee maker
• Mini refrigerator
We offer a complimentary basic continental breakfast in your suite. Currently, due to the pandemic, all areas of The Main are closed to guests.
Continental: In your kitchenette, we stock yogurt, and The Jazz Chef’s signature Granola, or Jazz Chef Müesli, along with his complimentary daily fresh-baked goods, delivered, per your requests one item per day, created on premises. To drink we offer both Keurig® and Nespresso coffee, tea, a small container of milk, and condiments.
If you have special dietary needs, please advise well before arrival, and we will work with you to accommodate them.
LIVING ROOM/PULL-OUT COUCH
The cozy living room has a pull-out couch, a couple of comfy chairs, a small coffee table, and our TV Boat. Please notify us of the correct number of people to set up the pull-out couch for your visit.
The Half offers two bedrooms: One with a premium Casper® queen-sized bed, and one with a Euro-twin (Suitable for people up to about 5’9”). Each room has small closets, night stands, multi-port AC/USB boxes to hook up your small portable electronic devices, and Amazon Echo personal assistant AI devices.
The casita has one bathroom with a tub/shower combination. We provide small shampoo and bath gels by the tub. You’ll find suntan lotion, mosquito repellent, and a few other outdoor essentials, in case you didn’t bring your own.
TV Boat, WIFI & TECHNOLOGY
The TV boat has a 21” flat screen TV connected to Apple TV, which offers service on AT&TNow™ (Cable TV), HBO Go, Netflix, and apps like YouTube and Zillow.
If you have Apple equipment, you can also share from your device to the TV.
We use EERO™ “mesh” WiFi, the fastest connection available to our provider, Comcast, for your phones, pads and computers.
The bedrooms are equipped with Amazon Echo (Alexa) AI assistants that can function as everything from alarm clocks to virtual concierges. Have a question? Ask Alexa!
There are multi-plugs that also have USB charger connections in the living and bedrooms.
Open: 7:00a - 9:00p. Pool is heated. Open exclusively to guests of The Half. Rooms in The Main are closed for renovations.

We have a small grill, open to guests’ use, for an additional fee, that includes plates, utensils, etc., adjacent to the pool.
We can fire up the smoker, our Big Green Egg, for an additional fee, but it will require our staff to run it, even if you have one at home.
Cooking classes, with The Jazz Chef, and guest chefs, are offered by TheJazzChef eZine on their website. Classes will be scheduled by reservation. See their website, or contact the concierge, for details on booking. - CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19.
We are located in a residential neighborhood. Our neighbors, 20 ft. away, have a baby. We ask, kindly, that you do not talk loudly, or play music, or other noise, after 9:00p. OUTDOORS.
Indoors, we ask that you be respectful of other guests, and our neighbors, and refrain from use of loud devices.
Please note: A Minut noise monitoring system is in operation in The Half. It does NOT listen to conversations, or record anything. It does monitor overall ambient VOLUME in the room. If it becomes excessive, it will notify the managers. We will reach you either by text, phone, or in person, to address the issue.
If we have to remind you repeatedly, you may be asked to forfeit the remainder of your stay, and find other, more lifestyle-suitable accommodations. By booking, you agree that you have read, and understood this policy.
There is absolutely NO SMOKING OR VAPING of any substances allowed in The Epic’s indoor spaces, or on the upper outdoor deck, at any time.
If the rooms smell of smoke, you will be charged a $250.00 cleaning fee. You may smoke outdoors on the lower pool patio deck.
Ashtrays are provided on the lower pool patio deck. Cigarette butts, or other smoking paraphernalia, left anywhere in our outdoor spaces will be assessed an $85.00 cleaning fee.
You agree, by booking, to be bound to these terms & conditions.
We except a limited number of pets. DOGS and BIRDS ONLY. Apologies, but no cats, reptiles, or exotics, please, due to past problems.
Please see our Pet Policy, and fill out the form if you want to get permission to bring your pet to The Half. http://rebrand.ly/EpicPetForm. Booking on VRBO you will NOT be subject to the Pet Deposit, as they collect damage insurance.
NUMBER IN PARTY NOTIFICATION/FOURTH PERSON POLICY
The rate remains the same for parties up to three (3) people. We collect a small additional charge to cover amenities for an additional guest. This is to cover the extra sheets/cleaning/hospitality.
If your party changes in size beyond our three-person base-rate, even temporarily, overnight, you are required to notify us by text/phone at 561.515.0084 prior to the first night’s stay where this will occur. We will collect the fourth person charge prior to your departure.
Failure to notify may result in the collection of double the additional fee, per person, or the forfeit of the remainder of your booking, at the discretion of the management.
HURRICANE/SEVERE WEATHER POLICY
Florida is subject to hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical storms, water spouts, and other high-wind events. Hurricane season in Florida runs from June to November, with the peak months being August/September.
They are RARE, but, if, at any time, The Epic is under a tropical storm/hurricane watch where the “incidence cone” is expected to remain focused on our geographic region, with projections of a category strength of one (1), or more:
• You have the option of cancelling the remainder of your stay, at no penalty to you, if we are within the published incidence cone, at seventy-two (72) hours prior to landfall;
• At forty-eight (48) hours prior to your arrival, if we remain in the incidence cone, we will, regretfully, have to cancel your booking. Our buildings are wood-frame/stucco, and not secure enough to be safe in a high-wind event.
Weather-related communications outages may impact our ability to contact you, but we will make every effort.
Your charges for your stay will be refunded, if already collected, by Airbnb.
We will provide you with a voucher to book the same amount of time, at a future date, at that booking rate, that is valid if The Epic WPB is operational.
If you are staying at The Epic when it falls under Tropical Storm/Hurricane Watch, with our property within the published “incidence cone” within forty-eight (48) hours, while you are staying with us, if the storm has the potential to reach a Category 1 level or greater:
1. If we are forced to close, the remaining balance of your stay will be credited to you. You will receive a voucher for a future stay, at the rate that you booked, for the same, or shorter, duration, that is valid if we are operational.
2. If we are notified by the news and/or National Weather Service that there will be a window where a hurricane, of any category strength, will pass through our area, we will close the house(s) down 48 hours prior, or as soon as is possible, and ask all guests to vacate.
3. We will provide you notice, in writing, by email, or on paper, or both. Your reservation in progress will be cancelled. You will be credited with your remaining stay. You are responsible for your own safety, and evacuation plans, in such a circumstance. Be aware of news on the hurricane’s path. Check on, and book the necessary flights, rail, or auto transportation to leave the hurricane’s projected pathway.
