Teatro is the Italian word for theatre and Goldoni is the famous 18th century Venetian playwright and passionate gastronome. The interior offers several dramatic focal elements: a glowing glass wall of original Venetian masks, harlequin panels of colored glass, an oversized photo-mural lit from behind depicting a Venetian scene, and a display kitchen set on a stage in the center of the restaurant. A private dining room looks over the kitchen. A butcher-block chef's table set within the kitchen itself offers one of the most unusual dining experiences in the Washington area. If you want, you can work alongside the chefs to create the perfect meal for you and your guests. Not to be outdone by the design, the cuisine is an art form in itself. Chef Aielli likes to combine traditional and modern Venetian cuisine, blending simplicity with his own creativity. A culinary expedition that is known as Venetian World Cuisine. Among the many showstoppers on the menu is the Roasted fillet of flounder served with venetian eggplant and crispy shrimp. Another is lobster risotto with roasted tomato, truffle oil and sweet basil. For dessert, dip into a bowl of mango sorbet topped with berries or sample the ever popular cappuccino tiramisu. Teatro's wine list consists of more than 200 kinds of Italian and American wines, with a focus on California vintages. Through out the week, Teatro Goldoni features live music. Business firms looking for a great place to hold a private luncheon or banquet will find Teatro Goldoni's private rooms just the ticket.
