🌴 Sophisticated Kolea 11C Penthouse w Spectacular Ocean Views! ⛱

Located in: Waikoloa Village
Immaculate ocean views await at this refined penthouse nestled in the heart of elegant Kolea in the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Step out to your private covered lanai and take a deep breath of ocean-fresh air. The Hualalai, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa volcanoes rise out of the distance (don’t worry, they’re 120 miles away!), and the beach is only a 2-minute walk from your door.

Solid African mahogany doors and cabinetry, granite surfaces, and gleaming tile line this expansive 1,554 sq. ft. condo, offering a wealth of space and style for small families or two couples to gather together or hide away with a captivating vacation read.

An Ocean-View Lanai, A Refined Living Room
Start your day with a delicious breakfast prepared in the gourmet center-island kitchen, where stainless steel appliances and an array of kitchen gadgets will delight the culinary-minded. Choose from the formal open-concept dining area, or a breezy meal with a view of Anaeho’omalu Bay on the lanai.

Vaulted ceilings and Pacific views accompany you in the great room. Whether it’s morning cartoons or an evening movie marathon, the HD TiVo TV promises a cinema-quality experience. The sea foam colored sofa and love seat add a serenely tropical air — put your favorite music on the Yamaha stereo system for pure vacation bliss.

The lanai is sure to be your favorite place to relax during your Kolea stay. Pick up a few of our famous Big Island grass-fed steaks and find the perfect temperature on the Viking grill. A wet bar and under-counter refrigerator set the scene for al fresco cocktails. Pull up a chair at the dining table, take a sip, and relish in the view.

Living The Resort Life
Kolea's Beach Club Pavilion is a few steps from your door. There you’ll find a full kitchen, a natural lava hot tub, infinity pool, and a kid’s pool with a sandy bottom and a waterfall. Work up a sweat in the open-air exercise room overlooking the pool and the ocean. When you’re ready to cool off and take a dip, you'll find the condo well-stocked with towels and beach gear.

At the end of the day, retire in one of two plush master suites, one with a California-king-size bed and the other has TWO queen-sized beds. High-definition TVs and spa-worthy baths with tiled walk-in showers, soaking tubs, and double-sink vanities make for a truly luxurious slumber.

The Magic of Hawaii
Hawaii is one of the most remote places on the planet, and (we feel!) the most beautiful. Take your pick of beautiful beaches nearby, hike a picturesque trail along Akaka Falls, and stargaze on Mauna Kea. From deep sea fishing to reef snorkeling, the ocean activities are endless. Kolea is also close to high-end golf courses and delicious restaurants.
Family-friendly Waikoloa Beach Resort is easy walking distance to sand and surf, the resort’s pools, and King and Queen’s Shops. Make your vacation extra-memorable and attend a local luau — you can even see the island from the air with a helicopter ride.

Most visitors come to our island for laid-back, un-resort adventures they can’t find on Maui, Oahu, or in the Caribbean. Big Island visitors want hikes, underwater adventures, heritage, less-crowded beaches, stargazing, coffee farms, and yes, volcanoes.

So, do you want to see some lava flows? The entire island is comparatively very young and is comprised of relatively recent flows so the effects can be seen everywhere. Check out the stark lava around Kona airport which is built on top of the most recent Hualalai flow (around 1830). Visit the lava tube just north of Kona airport and the fascinating variety of lava fields also in that area, as well as the lava fields/hikes along Saddle Road. Understand that the round hills (“pu’u”) are actual sites of previous lava flows (mini volcanoes). One of the largest is Pu’u Wa’a Wa’a which is a beautiful hike located at a very cool elevation. See the Nene (still protected Hawaiian Geese) located there.

Looking for adventure?? This is truly an island of adventure. There are countless activities and things to do here—many that cannot be done anywhere else in the world. Those who enjoy hiking should trek to Green Sand Beach and to Makalawena—one of the most beautiful, private beaches you can find anywhere. Snorkel with honu (green sea turtles) at Kahalu’u Beach or dolphins at Two Step. Hiking the Maunakea trail is challenging but rewarding, as is the Waipio Valley. Some visitors prefer the gentle paths at Akaka Falls. You can always consider ATV riding, manta ray tours, ziplining, skydiving, horse riding, and other organized outfitters should that suit your needs. The world’s best deep-sea fishing is just off the shore of the Kona Coast. Check out Honokohau Harbor and have a cold beer schooner at the Harbor House.

Foodies take heart—we have lots for you as well. Coffee lovers should have Kona and Ka’u farms at the top of their bucket lists. Do you like fruit? Try our Apple Bananas. Even people who don’t like bananas love these. Also, try our limes, lemons, pineapple, dragonfruit, papaya, mango, lilikoi, for starters. All different kinds of Avocados are available—many of them you cannot get on the mainland such as Kahaluu and Yamagata. Try the Wednesday and Saturday farmers’ markets in Waimea for a sampling of what’s available and in season. Sample the delicious lau lau, superb malasadas at KTA and Tex Drive in, and loco moco in Hilo—the town that created it. Prefer fine dining at terrific restaurants? Try Merriman’s in Waimea, one of the originators of farm to table cuisine. Roy’s at the Waikoloa Beach Resort specializes in Pacific-Asian fusion food. Travel south to the Four Season’s Resort and try a steak at the Hualalai Grille or sushi at the romantic, oceanfront Ulu’s.

Do you seek cultural treasures? The Big Island has so many touchpoints into history/culture no other island can match: from Pu’uhonua o Honaunau to Hawaii’s first Christian church to the Captain Cook Monument to the birthplace of Kamehameha I to Mark Twain Monkeypod, there are locations that resonate so deeply on so many levels.

Enjoy surfing? There are several great surf breaks along Ali’I Drive—names immortalized by Maui Jim sunglasses including: Banyans, Kahaluu, Magic Sands, Honl’s, and others. But, the best surf break is Kohanaiki (“Pine Trees”).
How about snorkeling or diving? Carole and I have been diving all over the world and feel the diving here is second to none. The underwater visibility is often 200 feet or more. The best snorkel spots are probably at Kahaluu Beach (“Turtle Beach”) and Two Step (Honaunau) but great coral can be found all along the Kona and Kohala Coasts. Those who like to just hang out at the beach should check out Mauna Kea and Hapuna—both rated as “The World’s Best Beach” at one time or another. But, locals prefer a multitude of more private beaches.

Find your own adventure on the Big Island. If you find yourself bored here—it’s YOUR fault!

Come and see the Kohala Coast for yourself. It’s time to experience the best vacation region and the finest accommodations in all of Hawaii.
