The Riverside is a charming cottage style house set in pretty terraced gardens in quaint Helford Village. The village, with its white washed cottages sitting either side of the creek which runs directly into the wonderful, sheltered and beautiful waters of the Helford river itself, is very picturesque. There is a village shop, a delightful pub and the sailing club. It really is a great place to spend time with friends/family.
The Riverside is a very comfortable and cosy property offering much more than one would normally expect from holiday accommodation. Whilst there are plenty of rooms at The Riverside, it is not necessary to fill every bedroom!
The very well equipped open plan kitchen/dining room has an Aga, an electric cooker, a granite island unit, a large fridge and a sink; and in the back kitchen there is double sink, a MIele dishwasher another large fridge and a freezer. But one of the best features in the fabulous extending wooden dining table. So many happy meals have been enjoyed around it!
When you arrive, you will find your beds made up with freshly laundered sheets, white towels and fragrant toiletries in all the bathrooms and flowers in the rooms. During your stay Mary will come in to do light cleaning and make the beds in the mornings (except on her day off). And there is none of that frantic cleaning at the end of the holiday, you just pack your bags and go home feeling refreshed!
There are 6 pretty, double/twin bedrooms (+ two small bunk rooms) at The Riverside, each with its own en-suite facilities (the master bedroom has a bath and a shower, the twin room has a shower, one of the cottage bathrooms has a shower over the bath and the other bathrooms have hand showers in the bath). Each bedroom is equipped with a radio, a hairdryer and a television.
The Cottage Rooms (which are in the building above the main house) are a popular choice for couples with children as they have the bunks off the main bedroom. Whilst on the subject of young children, we do have two listening devices available.
Relaxing at The Riverside comes easy but there are also plenty of things to do in the area. In addition to the very well equipped and comfortable house, we also have 2 boats that can be used on the river (between April and October and subject to weather conditions of course).
The Riverside boats are Camilla James, a Cygnus 19’ fishing boat + Lulu its tender. CJ can be used for exploring the wonders of the river, its delightful creeks and beaches, the estuary and for fishing.
Sailaway at St Anthony, who run the boats for us, will give you a "Boats Briefing" on your first morning and will lend you life jackets/buoyancy aids. Sailaway also rent out sailing dinghies and kayaks so do call them for more information – 01326 231357.
If you hanker after a complete rest, why not come to stay on a catered basis? Our cook will come in and cook you breakfast and a delicious 3 course dinner each day (except their day off) so all you will have to worry about is what to do for lunch! Do ask us about this option.Get the full listing »
