Gorleston-on-Sea is one of Norfolk's best kept secrets. It has a long sandy beach, a children's swimming pool and a boat pond both also on the beach. Lighthouse View is about 5 minutes walk from this wonderful beach.
The house itself has 5 large bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, sitting room and family room (these last two rooms are one large space).
There is parking for two cars accessed at the back of the house.
The two main bedrooms have wonderful views across the harbour and to the sea.
There are two king size beds, one double, two single beds, one bunk bed and a day bed (these two last are in the same room - ideal for children).
There is a piano for your use in the family room.
There is a 32" TV in the sitting room.
There is also internet.
Please use all the applicances in the kitchen as you wish.
There is a hot tub in the garden - there are instructions for its use to be found in the file of how things work!
The house is currently undergoing a complete refurb. It is being painted throughout and new flooring and carpeting is being laid. There is also a lot of new furniture being brought in.
There is a travel cot and high chair supplied.
You can access everything in the house.
There are two private car park spaces at the back of the house in Drudge Road. There is access to the property from here via the back gate.
You can usually find additional parking spaces in nearby roads.
Keys will be found in the Key Safe at the front of the property. I will give you the code once you have booked.
We love dogs - just keep them off the furniture and keep them downstairs. Many thanks! You will love walking along the beach or esplanade. Nearby of course are Norfolk Broads and walks along the Norfolk country paths.
Of great note is the DOGGY DINER on the harbour. Here you can enjoy bacon, sausage and egg baps as well as sandwiches and home made cakes. The best thing being of course that your dogs are very welcome. They strike up conversation with other dogs as soon as you walk in. The owner paints on the premises and the paintings on the walls are her own and are for sale.
The Pier Hotel is a lovely place to eat and socialise. Very generous portions. There is also outside seating next to the wall on the beach where you can sit outside with your furry friends but they are not allowed inside. Great fish and chips!
We have just discovered Gambas - a restaurant 2 minute walk from our house, Harbour View. Wonderful, fresh, hot food (try the prawns!) and on Friday nights, live music from local talent.
Lighthouse View is in the midst of Gorleston eateries, shops and restaurants/cafes.
There is also a bus that goes direct to Great Yarmouth if you wish to have fun on the pier in the traditional fashion of old time holidays.
If you turn right out of the house and then right again you will find Margo's. Such a delightful mix of decor and non-matching 60s crockery. Lovely place for a light breakfast or lunch.
A few minutes walk up the road (turn right outside the house) there is the wonderful Cliff Hotel. It has a huge terrace enclosed by glass so that you can take in the view while having a glass and a meal. Such a treat in the summer.
There are other places to eat and drink on the beach front including The Shed which has recently expanded.
There is also the lovely park next to the beach which, in the summer, has live bands. You can sit in the sun on the grass and watch all day!
The esplanade at Gorleston is wide and long. It is excellent for biking, walking, skate boarding. Safe for children as there are no cars allowed. You can walk from one end to the other and then up to the top of the cliffs. Great for dog walking!Get the full listing »
