This characterful cottage, at the end of the row, is a good place to explore the area. It is located in East Burton in the middle of Thomas Hardy country, between Swanage and Weymouth, in this popular part of Dorset only 5 miles from Lulworth and Durdle Door.
It has been furnished with an eclectic mix of antique furniture and memorabilia with historic links to the railway. Inside it is like taking a step back in time! The cosy living/dining room has plentiful beams, rugs on wooden floors and a charming feature wood burner (ornamental only). It seats eight guests on the sofas and ten comfortably around the dining table. There is further easy seating in the bedrooms or around the kitchen table which has a church pew and cushions. The well-equipped kitchen has hand made clay tiled floor- practical and hardwearing - and a very good range of units, as well as a Smeg range with gas hob and electric oven, and patio doors to parking and seating area in enclosed courtyard area. There is a small utility area with washing machine, and a ground floor toilet. Upstairs the bedrooms continue with the antique theme and each room has its own bathroom or shower room, making this ideal for groups, couples or families.
There is so much to discover in this lovely area, with Lawrence of Arabia’s grave and his former home just two minutes from the cottage. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove – the famous natural arch and rock formations, with secluded cove, are a stunning landmark. Kimmeridge, close by, has the Museum of Jurassic Marine Life, and also worthy of a visit are Corfe Castle at Wareham, Lulworth Castle, Abbotsbury Swannery with over 600 swans, The Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World, Weymouth Sea Life Park and Butterfly Farm, and Swanage with its golden sandy beaches. Shop 1 mile, pub with food 500 yards.
