The house sleeps 8 with 2 king sized zip and link beds allowing various combinations, well behaved dogs are welcome downstairs only but bear in mind that the garden is not secure. Outside the kitchen is a sheltered area with bbq, picnic bench and benches ideal for “alfresco” eating if the Scottish weather holds.
We do have a travel cot, high chair, a couple of baby gates, a bed rail, a z-bed for children only, children’s plates/cutlery and a baby bath for use by families.
*You can’t fix a baby gate to the top of the stairs due to the age and design of the stairs but there is a door at the bottom.
* Children are very welcome (we have a 7 year old) but please bear in mind if you decide to book - the garden isn’t secure, there’s a stream as a boundary and steep drops - there’s a photograph of the drop behind the house so you can judge for yourselves.
One of the nicest things about staying here is the abundant wildlife. There’s a family of roe who wander through the garden most mornings usually whilst we’re drinking coffee in bed, red deer are frequently seen just beyond the boundary at the rear, red squirrels have been spotted next door so we’re hopeful that one day we’ll see them too. Please feel free to top up the bird feeders outside the kitchen window from the spare bird food in the boot room.
Garelochhead is a busy little village with a pub, two local shops, a post office, 2 cafes, a couple of takeaway outlets and a church all within walking distance of the house. Turning right out of the drive will take you to the village of Kilcreggan and a foot ferry to Gourock 15 minutes away by car.
Helensburgh is our local town and it’s great. Full of independent shops, award winning restaurants and history.
Close to numerous golf courses, the Arrochar Alps are only 20 minutes’ drive away as is Loch Lomond and the village of Luss. Glasgow Airport is just 45 minutes’ drive away. A bus runs from outside the house to the local town of Helensburgh although there’s 2 hours free parking in the centre of town if needed.
The boring but important stuff:
*The drive is very steep up to the house, it isn't suitable for estate cars. There is plenty of room to park and space to turn on the flat section which is approximately 10 metres from the house.
*There is a stream at the rear of the garden that is our boundary, it is not fenced off.
*There is a sheer drop from the hill above the house (2 metres) it’s roped off with signs - there’s a photograph of the drop.
