Set in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, The Pyghtle is set in the pretty village of Ranworth, within walking distance from local amenities, and fishing literally on the doorstep (seasonal and licence required). Excellent walking and cycling can also be enjoyed nearby. There is a shop which sells ice cream during the summer months, as well as a small café and a very popular pub selling food and open all year. The broad is abundant to wildlife. The nearby nature centre offers a facility where you can look out onto The Broads using binoculars so you can admire its true beauty. There are also boat rides on Ranworth Broad, so you can take a tour with a guide (seasonal basis). The village church is known as the ’Cathedral of the Broads’, and its tower offers panoramic views over the surrounding area. This is an ideal location to explore quaint towns and villages including Wroxham, Horning, Salhouse, South Walsham, Potter Heigham and Coltishall. Wroxham, 6 miles, is known as the ’Capital of the Broads’, with its selection of waterside cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops. Sandy beaches can be reached within 15 miles, where you can experience the delights of picturesque coastal villages. Be sure to take a tour around the Woodbastwick brewery, 2 miles, in the next village where you can sample the local beer. The city of Norwich is just 10 miles away with its cathedral, museums, theatres and a vast array of cafés and shops. BeWILDerwood at Horning, an outdoor tree top adventure park, makes a great day out for children, or visit Wroxham Barns, both within a short drive away. National Trust properties including Felbrigg Hall, Blickling Hall and Horsey Windpump are all well worth a visit. Excellent sandy beaches can be found at Hemsby, Sea Palling, Horsey and Eccles, all offering wide sandy beaches, where seals are often to be seen (seasonal). Sailing, bicycle hire, fishing and bird watching are all available locally. Beach 15½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
