This vibrant town offers a unique range of independent boutiques and shops offering locally produced food. The famous pannier market is well worth a visit and there are a good selection of cafés and restaurants, or why not enjoy an evening at The Wharf watching a wide variety of theatrical productions?
You will be spoilt for choice with great walking and cycling on the doorstep. Dartmoor National Park is the largest and wildest area of open country in the south of England, with ancient woodland, high granite tors and vast tracts of rolling moorland.
There are stunning beaches within a 45-minute drive including Looe, Boscastle and Tintagel. Hire a bike and enjoy a day on the nearby Camel Trail, taking you through woodland and disused rail stations, while you take in the sea views.
The National Trust has several properties within easy reach, including Cothele House, Saltram House and Castle Drogo. Golf, fishing and horse riding are all available close by, or why not visit Dartmoor Zoo or enjoy a day out at the famous Eden Project? Beach 25 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
