A former fisherman’s cottage that has been lovingly restored to create a chic seaside retreat in a glorious setting with uninterrupted views across the pretty harbour at Seahouses to the Farne Islands beyond.
Chic seaside retreat
The cottage sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and provides the perfect spot for those looking to swap busy days for spectacular scenery and mile upon mile of unspoilt sandy beaches. The interior is light, bright and immaculately presented in neutral tones peppered with nautical touches and vibrant pops of colour. There’s an electric fire for cosy winter evenings following a bracing walk on the beach and in the warmer months, French doors fold back to let the sea air in and a balcony to the rear provides a sheltered, sunny spot for dining al fresco.
The fabulous first floor open plan living area is designed to take full advantage of the fantastic views whilst you unwind and watch the comings and goings of the bustling little harbour. Beyond are the magical Farne Islands, home to one of the foremost seabird colonies in England and a large grey seal colony. Boat trips are available from the harbour. The comforting flash of Longstone Lighthouse on Outer Farne is a constant reminder of local heroine Grace Darling, famous for her gallant exploits rescuing survivors with her father during a storm in 1838.
On the ground floor, there are three compact but well-presented bedrooms (one double, one twin, one bunk) which are well-designed to make best use of the space for both families and couples.
Sitting in the very heart of the Northumberland coastline, Seahouses is seen as the gateway for sea voyages to the Farne Islands and is extremely well positioned for exploring all the attractions and sights of the wider area. Here you can enjoy lazy lunches in jolly pubs; wander dune fringed sands; or simply relax with a glass of prosecco and watch the setting sun from your own private balcony.
