—— The space ——
A great space to relax and unwind after a busy day! We’ve completely refurbished the cottage for 2018 with a mix of modern and rustic vintage furnishings with a mission to make our guests feel special - we hope you enjoy the space as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
The cottage is in an enviable location only a few minutes walk from the vibrant and charming centre of Lymington – the Georgian High Street and the quaint cobbled streets leading down to the boats bobbing on the Quay. Experience the best of Lymington with artisan eateries, traditional pubs, fresh sea air and the beautiful New Forest National Park.
Sailmaker's Cottage has an open plan lounge and dining room – a great sociable space with comfy sofas and a chunky farmhouse dining table with seating for four. There’s an HD TV, free unlimited WiFi and Netflix.
The new kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need including gas hob, oven with grill, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer with water dispenser, kettle, toaster etc. We have a Nespresso coffee machine and supply a few pods to get you started. We love the midnight blue cupboards, brass handles, handmade metro tiles and oak floors.
The master bedroom has two layout options – either a king sized bed or two single beds. We’ll lay out as king bed as standard but please let us know on booking if you’d prefer the single bed layout. Bedroom two is a cosy room with a double bed.
Both bedrooms have extra deep pocket sprung mattresses with quality high thread count linen, wardrobes and chests of drawers.
The travertine bathroom has a bath with rain head shower over and a heated floor. Towels included.
Outside there’s a private sunny garden (shingle) with a great swing bench for enjoying a morning coffee. Bike storage is available in the secure locked shed.
Parking is usually available on the road (please note it’s non-permit). We also supply a free long stay parking permit to be used about five minutes walk away. The permit can also be used for free parking in approximately 30 car parks across the New Forest - great for exploring!
We love to welcome families and have a few things to make it easier - a travel cot & mattress (please bring your own babies bedding), a high chair and kids plates & cutlery. Please note the original cottage stairs are quite steep - we recommend little ones are supervised.
Inside the cottage we have a guide book including a long list of our favourite places to eat, drink and days out nearby.
—— Other things to note ——
Parking is usually available on the road. We do also supply a long stay parking permit to be used approximately five minutes walk away.
The cottage stairs are fairly steep - we love to welcome families but recommend young children are supervised on the stairs.
—— The location ——
Our cottage provides the opportunity of staying in the heart of Lymington with all the conveniences of the historic High Street minutes away.
Lymington is a bustling vibrant town with plenty to see and do. Famous for its sailing, Lymington has two large marinas and two sailing clubs. The cobbled streets leading down to the quay are no more than five minutes walk away where you can buy fresh seafood and watch the boats sail by. The High Street has a fantastic selection of independent shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars. A well known Street Market, thought to date back to the 13th Century, takes place every Saturday and includes craft, local fine foods and antiques. Parks, coastal walks, a leisure centre and an open air swimming pool are also nearby.
The New Forest National Park is on Lymington’s doorstep – 150 square miles of heathlands and ancient woodlands where wild ponies, donkeys, pigs and deer roam free. To the West are four miles of coastal nature reserve ending at Hurst Spit which has received European and national recognition as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
