My apartment is a modern and convenient base for your trip to London. Located in Kennington, and with great transport links, you’ll be just a stone´s throw from the likes of Covent Garden and Southbank, home to the London Eye.
Step into the bright living area and claim your place on the large sofa bedecked with cushions. You can enjoy a film or some TV on the flat screen opposite, or grab a book off the shelf for entertainment. Enjoy plenty of light in this room which boasts a large window and at mealtimes, you can enjoy freshly cooked dishes at the four-seater wooden dining table next to the bookcase.
If you enjoy cooking, unleash your creativity in the kitchen which is fully kitted with high-spec appliances.
The master bedroom has a comfortable double bed outfitted to perfection with hotel-quality linens and boasts an adjoining ensuite bathroom. You don’t have to live out of your suitcase either; plenty of storage room means you can get unpacking and start feeling at home right away.
The second bedroom is slightly smaller but a window on the exterior wall lets in lots of light which can be blocked out with blinds to ensure a peaceful night´s sleep. Wind down with a late-night read before you fall asleep or a relaxing soak in the bathtub of the main bathroom. The second bathroom has a walk-in shower which will leave you feeling refreshed. And don´t worry about packing towels as these will be provided.
My property will be professionally cleaned before your stay.
You will have the entire place.
Behind every great stay, there's a great company. Broken boiler? Late check-in? Key trouble? Not to worry: Hostmaker have your back as they have mine, as a host. I have entrusted this successful team with my home, as they've proven their extensive experience in countless ways for myself and my lovely guests. Their innovative multi-channel platform makes everything from signing up to reporting maintenance issues a breeze, and they operate around the clock all year. Oh, have I also mentioned that they spread their wings to many other cities in the world? You're welcome!
Kennington is one of inner London's best-kept secrets. It’s an enclave of brick houses and pretty squares containing some perfect examples of Georgian architecture. The most famous area is the idyllic Cleaver Square, where locals play boules (a French bowling game) in the summer with merriment. Kennington and nearby Elephant and Castle have also become destinations for foodies in London with a hugely diverse selection of restaurants and markets. The excellent Imperial War Museum and Cinema Museum are both nearby making this a good spot for culture vultures to learn about the history of conflict and motion pictures respectively. Kennington has a significant sporting history and is home to The Kia Oval, one of the homes of the England Cricket team and Surrey County Cricket Club. Up the road, Elephant and Castle has long had a reputation as a slightly downtrodden area, but after a £3 billion investment and regeneration project over 10 years, Elephant and Castle is rapidly becoming one of the most newly desirable areas in London. One example of the change in culture here is the success of the Artworks, a multi-function complex with yoga studios, vintage clothes stores and cafes; all signs of a prosperous and flourishing neighbourhood.
For proper English pubs, you're in the right place. Swing by The Old Red Lion or the White Bear for classic pub grub and beers. As far as restaurants go, we recommend heading to the Frenchie Bistro which serves, delicious Gallic food. Alternatively, local foodies in the know head to the Italian-inspired Mercato Metropolitano, an indoor street market that is packed with everything from pizzas to gelato. As far as nightlife goes, Elephant and Castle is home to one of the most famous nightclubs in the world, the legendary Ministry of Sound where superstar DJs and well-known producers frequent the turntables.
Kennington is the nearest station to the apartment, just a two-minute walk away. This connects you to the Northern line, meaning you can get to iconic London sites in no time at all, such as Leicester Square, Camden and London Bridge. There are also plenty of buses that will take you all over the city.
Getting to and from Gatwick is easy as well - the Northern line will quickly connect you to London Bridge in five minutes, where you can get a train directly to the airport (journey lasts 28 minutes). Exploring London could hardly be easier!
