Notting Hill is one of London’s most exciting and vibrant areas. Packed full of restaurants and fashionable shops and home to the famous Portobello Market, you’re unlikely to get bored in this neighborhood. Quirky backstreets and pretty gardens attract many to wander the streets of this beautiful part of London. Feel like you’ve gone back in time by seeing a film at the iconic Electric Cinema, one of Britain’s oldest working movie theatres. Alternatively, have a look around intriguing building of the famously open and welcoming Kensington Temple Church. If you visit towards the end of August, you cannot miss Notting Hill Carnival, a vibrant and colourful celebration of black culture dating back more than 50 years.
For brilliant brunch, you can’t go wrong with Egg Break who specialise, unsurprisingly, in eggs! The Shed is a modern British restaurant where the plates are small but delicious, all the food is seasonal and the dishes creative; it has become a local favorite. Notting Hill has no shortage of pubs. The Churchill Arms is probably the prettiest of them all, with it’s beautiful floral facade, checking out even just to Instagram is a must! For a pub with a good garden, The Windsor Castle is the place to go. Other than the hundreds of stalls at the Portobello Road Market, be sure to pop into The Notting Hill Bookshop, the inspiration for Hugh Grant’s character’s shop in the famous film, Notting Hill.
Royal Oak is the nearest station to the property, just a 3 minute walk away. You can board the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, which means you can get to iconic main City’s attractions in no time, such as the Buckingham Palace in only 30 min or iconic King’s Cross in 20 min. You can explore by bus at the Royal Oak stop (RH stop), No. 36 will allow you to discover the lovely landscapes and London’s parks and its architecture will make you fall madly in love of this town.
If you rather walk, you will be located in one of the most beautiful and charming neighborhoods in London, full of boutiques and charming coffee shops, only a 20 min walk away from Kensington Palace. Gatwick Airport is also particularly within easy access, you’ll need to take the Circle line until the Victoria Station and board the Gatwick Express Train, which will mean an overall hour trip to most of your regular flights.
If you don’t care about public transport, you can always use Uber, Addison Lee or Gett to move around.
I hope you have a lovely time!
