Airy double bed room in charming 1910 Edwardian period property that shouts 'Lifestyle'! Close to the river Thames and several leafy south west London parks and ancient cemeteries. 20-40 minutes from Central London by three different London Underground lines and lots of buses. Our bit of Fulham is known for its history, a variety of riverside pubs, restaurants and cafes (and one international beer store!). A stylish home for staying in, a great base for going out.
In our flat, you're perfectly placed for a summer vacation by the Thames or a cold weather gig in London. With two proper-sized bedrooms, the place is a find for a family or two couples sharing. Having two bathrooms is a luxury in London, and really helps with getting everyone ready on time. The living room is full of art and artifacts, board games and books and a giant TV, so you're sorted for a rainy day in London. The kitchen is semi-attached to the living room, so any chef can join in the conversation, but also focus on the dish at hand if they need to. The spiral staircase is a quirky feature, and has a cosy niche halfway up, which kids love to play or read in. Be careful though, the staircase is really not toddler-friendly. One of the bedrooms is perched on top, with views over London (you can see the Shard!) The bed isn't huge, but is adequate for a moderate sized couple. The low level bed and the empty floor space gives a great sense of space. The en-suite private bathroom has a big skylight, for natural light and ventilation. The second bedroom has a bigger bed, also low level, and also has an en-suite bathroom. The window looks out onto a leafy green, quiet space. This is the quietest room in the property.
Guests will have access to the entire property, including the bedrooms, the living room and the kitchen, including the contents of the fridge and kitchen cupboards.
You'll be checked in on arrival by our co-host Roy. We'll be available on email and phone.
Fulham is on the Thames, and hosts the Oxford Cambridge boat race every year in March. Fulham Palace, the Bishop of London's old residence is a ten minute walk from the property, and a must visit, especially in summer. Think plush lawns, elegant follies, mysterious apothecary gardens and vast ornate dining halls. Victorian architecture, old churches, grand halls, classical cottages, and extravagant green spaces add to the neighbourhood's beauty. Craven Cottage (Fulham Football Club) is nearby, as is the Hammersmith Apollo events venue (recent performers include Ewert and the two Dragons, Green Day). The neighbourhood is great for walking, whatever your walking appetite. Leisurely strolls by the river, cross sectional walks through the great city of London, or long heath walks through Putney, Kew and Richmond for the more adventurous. Don't miss the folder on the dining table with tips for restaurants etc. in the neighbourhood!
The apartment is a quick bus ride away from both Hammersmith and Putney Bridge stations (both are zone 2), giving you easy access to three Underground Lines - Piccadilly, District and Hammersmith & City. Use Kingwood Road bus stop to go south, and Fulham cemetery bus stop to go north. If you have time, the 15 min walk to both stations and a third one, Parsons Green, are quite pleasant. All the shops are on the way there.
