For travelers who are passing through town and like a rustic cabin vibe in a great location. Set within gardens, very close to the theatre, shops and leisure facilities, the double-glazed cabin with a kitchenette and washroom is ideal for a short stay. *Note* No bathing facilities on site, however, a large basin offers space for body & hair washing and if you make use of the pool or gym next door, you will have access to their showers. If needed, we can fit in beds for two children; £6 pppn
The cabin is separate to the main house and private. It is double-glazed and a heater is provided.
The kitchenette contains kettle, microwave, toaster and dining essentials.
Within the washroom is a loo, basin with extending hose - ideal for washing hair - and a drawer unit, stool, mirror and hairdryer. The gym and pool adjacent to our property has showering facilities and opens at 7am, as does the outdoor pool (beginning of May- end of August -opens at 12 noon).
3 min walk:
- Gym & Pool
- Theatre & Cinema
- Clarks HQ
- Millfield school
6 min walk:
- Clarks Village outlet shops
- Outdoor Pool (seasonal)
- Garden centre
- Highstreet; library, chemist, banks etc.
Without a shower or bath, the cabin is simple acommodation but is ideal to use as a base for exploring the local area.
Self-serve breakfast is provided in the cabin. This includes cereals, bread, milk, butter and jam, tea and coffee. The kitchenette contains a toaster, kettle and microwave.
The garden is a 'work in progress', however, over time this will hopefully bloom into a lovely area to wander and sit. Guests are welcome to use the garden.
Guests have access to off-road parking (two spaces if needed - check on booking)
Guests may use the garden. We are a family home with two children and a dog. We all use the garden too, however, if you would rather not meet the dog, let us know upon booking and we'll keep him out of your way.
We will leave you entirely to your own devices. We are, however, very friendly and happy to chat. I often leave the key for guests to check in although I like to greet my guests as we live on the property when possible. I can then be helpful with information you may need. We are a busy family, so my husband and I are often all about town, but we are accessible on phone and email easily most of the time.
Though we think our place has character and charm, it is not for the traveler that needs lots of space or needs to stay a long time (unless you use the pool or gym next door, where you can then take a shower :-). It is perfect if you want to explore short-term, relax and read a book, get away from the hustle and bustle while still being in the town.
Street's excellent heated, outdoor pool is just a five minute walk from the cabin (May-Sept), while just across the road is the indoor pool and gym.
The Street Inn is at the end of the road and is a friendly pub with food. The Elms Inn, Two Brewers and Bear Inn are all within walking distance.
Strode theatre is just around the corner and boasts live shows, cinema and live, on-screen shows. There is something on at the theatre, most evenings.
Clarks Village outlet shopping centre boasts over 100 shops, six restaurants and many cafes and snack wagons.
The world famous town of Glastonbury is just two miles away with the famous Glastonbury Tor.
Nearby supermarkets - Sainsbury's, Lidl, Aldi and Tesco are a short drive away.
Millfield School, Crispin School and Strode College are nearby.
Clarks International HQ is less than a five minute walk away.
Busses leave Street throughout the day, with direct travel to Bath, Bristol, Wells, Glastonbury, Bridgwater and Taunton. Castle Cary train station is a 20-minute taxi ride (we may be able to pick up/drop off, so do ask).Get the full listing »
