The Annexe provides a peaceful retreat and perfect location for couples looking to explore the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside and surrounding areas of historic and natural beauty. Guilsborough is centrally located between Rugby, Northampton and Market Harborough so the Annexe would also provide the ideal self-contained accommodation for those working away from home.
Holly Cottage is a thatched property built in 1736 and the Annexe formed part of a small working barn within the cottage gardens and has original exposed external cob walls. The kitchen and bathroom area have been converted from a later built Victorian Wash House and the accommodation now comprises of a sitting room and kitchen area, double bedroom and en-suite shower room along with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay. Free Wi-Fi, power and underfloor heating, hypo-allergenic duvets and pillows, high quality bedding and towels are all included in the price along with complimentary tea and coffee.
A secluded garden area is available for guests and off-road parking is available.
Guilsborough village has an excellent village store and local pub, ‘The Witch and Sow’ within a short walk of the property. There are many beautiful walks and country lanes to explore by bicycle from the Annexe with Hollowell Reservoir just a short walk away from the property.
For more local exploration visit the Battlefields of Naseby where the decisive engagement of the English Civil War was fought in 1645 between the Royalist Army of King Charles I and the Parliamentarian Army commanded by Sir Thomas Fairfax. The Althorpe Estate, (the family seat of the Spencers and resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales) are just a short drive away with the historic village of Great Brington, where George Washington's grandfather rests in the ancient village church. Close to Great Brington, you can visit Sulgrave Manor, home of George Washington’s Ancestors and with many other interesting places to visit locally including Kelmarsh Hall, Cottesbrooke Hall and Gardens, Deene Park, Holdenby House, gardens and falconry centre, Coton Manor Gardens, Canons Ashby and the beautiful Pitsford Water to name just a few, there are lots of interesting things to see and places to visit!
