The neighbourhood around London Bridge is home to many of the city’s iconic landmarks and attractions, such as The Shard (Britain’s tallest building), London Dungeon, The Tower of London and Tower Bridge. For theatre lovers, Shakespeare’s Globe is a must-see as it boasts a full recreation of the Bard’s original Tudor theatre with a programme of plays throughout the summer. HMS Belfast, a retired navy ship, is moored on the Thames and makes for a spectacular floating museum about British naval history. If you’re in the mood for art, then take a trip to The Tate Modern gallery (walking distance from London Bridge) where you’ll see works by Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and many more.
Borough Market truly is a food lover’s heaven. In addition to fruits, meat, fish and cheese, there are many stalls offering artisanal produce from all over the world. Be sure to visit Padella Pasta, a superb Italian eatery, but be prepared to queue as they do not take reservations. For an artisan cup of coffee, make sure to stop at the Monmouth Coffee Company, good for sitting in or for a quick take-out! If you’re looking to treat yourself, book a table at Aqua Shard for some of the finest views of London to be enjoyed over some of the finest British food. For shopping, the trendy streets of Bermondsey are a short walk from London Bridge and boast many indie boutiques and specialist shops.
The apartment has terrific transport links which will allow you to get to any part of the city. You have different tube stations close to the apartment (around 15 minutes walking) such as: Elephant and Castle Station, Borough, London Bridge or Bermondsey which will allow you to link to other stations and be perfectly connected to any part of the city.
Uber is a nice and cheaper alternative to taxis - if you fancy a ride. Bus run all over, the 133 also has wonderful views of the Thames and the City.
