East meets West is a phrase often used to describe the meeting or fusion of cuisines, cultures and even haute couture. And it’s the perfect analogy to characterize everything that Villa Danisa has to offer families and friends looking for that X-factor from their luxury villa experience.
As you step through the impressive entrance several aspects of the villa will immediately strike you. First of all the huge open-plan living space-kitchen-dining room with its high ceilings and stunning views. To the left are several spacious and comfortable sofas and a large curved TV with integrated AV system. Centrally there is a modern kitchen with all the latest culinary equipment you could ever need with a breakfast bar seating eight and to the right is an ornate dining table for evening meals together. As you look around you will also start to see an incredible yet discreet array of Thai arts and crafts, ornamentations and antiques and this theme carries on throughout the villa.
Visually there is a great deal to take in and of course your eyes will be drawn to the floor-to-ceiling glass stacking doors and the terrace, the shaded sala, the sun-loungers, Jacuzzi and swimming pool just beyond. And as you step towards the pool you’ll be ushered through by two life-size statues depicting characters from Thai mythology. These are known as Kinnari or Kinnaree and in Thai mythology they are depicted as young women of sublime beauty with angel-like wings. The lower part of their bodies are similar to a bird, often a swan, enabling them to fly wherever they wish, and to travel back and forth between the human and the mythical worlds. The most famous Kinnari was a heroine Princess named Menora and you will often see statues to her in prominent temples around Thailand.
Once you are out on the terrace the full panoramic vista comes into focus. Verdant hills are to either side, coconut groves stretch out below and from the villa’s elevated position you can see the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan in the distance. Much nearer though are the two small islands of Koh Som - the larger island on the right - and Koh Lum Mu Noi to the left. Often the pair are collectively referred to as ‘Koh Som’ as Koh Lum Mu Noi is mostly rocks and craggy cliffs while Koh Som has everything you’d want in a small tropical island with sandy shores and coconut trees in the shallows. Longboat rides can be arranged from the nearby Plai Laem pier to make a visit to the island and private sunset cruises often circle around it.
The villa also faces north and so the sun rises above the hills to the right in the morning and arcs across bathing the terrace and pool in sunshine all day. In the late afternoon the sun sets behind the hills to the left and the orange glow of the setting-sun allows keen photographers to capture some spectacular and amazing sunsets.
On the upper level living area, to either side are the first two en-suite bedrooms. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned, have ample storage space, modern showers, wall-mounted TVs and the bedroom to the Master has a large bath as well as a shower. All of the bedrooms also face north and have floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors with the two bedrooms on this level leading directly onto the pool terrace.
As you take the stairs to the lower level once again you’ll be met with wide open spaces and natural light flooding in. On this level the third and fourth en-suite bedrooms are at either end of the villa directly below the ones above. And these two bedrooms have their own private balconies with outdoor seating. However, it’s the huge space in between the bedrooms that is just as breathtaking. You’ll see an antique Thai-style sofa at one end and an elaborately decorated throne-like chair at the other end. The attention to detail in the craftsmanship is quite extraordinary as is the entrance doorway to the games room.
Once again the games room is very spacious with table-football, a pool table and plenty of seating to relax in the air-conditioning should you need to cool off a little. Opposite the games room is a naturally-lit spa room and we can arrange for masseuses and spa therapists to come to the villa during your stay. Next to the spa is a gym with free-weights, an exercise bike, a running machine and a multigym overlooking the coconut groves below.
Villa Danisa also has ample off-road parking, CCTV cameras at the front of the villa and a live-in couple to attend to all your needs. The villa is also walled-in and very private, there is excellent wi-fi throughout and in the unlikely event of a power failure the villa has a back-up generator.
And Villa Danisa is very close to the major nightlife areas and the best beaches. Within a ten minute or so drive there are half a dozen wonderful bays and beaches, the famous Fisherman’s Village with its long stretch of restaurants, bars and ‘Walking Street’ night market. The main town of Chaweng is just ten minutes away and it has a major shopping mall, hundreds of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops and a 5 km long sandy beach.
East meets West defines Villa Danisa from the slow traverse of the sun to the modern architecture and fittings merged with the dazzling array of Thai cultural icons and antiques.
Villa Danisa is an ideal villa retreat for both couples and families and is ideally located the get the most out of your holiday.
