As we meandered down to the golden sands of El Palmar, it was with great delight that we discovered this charming family home, so close to the idyllic coastline of protected dunes and sandy beaches. Advantageously located on one of the lanes leading down to the beach, this property is just 700m from the picturesque shoreline in an area known for its fine restaurants, traditional beach bars, relaxed family atmosphere and beautiful sunsets.
Throughout the charming and well-proportioned accommodation, the owner's skills as a carpenter can be appreciated in the beautifully carved wood of furniture and fittings, which perfectly complement traditional tiles and furnishings of local design. Outside too, handcrafted wood catches the eye in the decking of the poolside terrace, an in-built barbecue area equipped for outdoor dining and a thoughtfully positioned pergola for covered parking.
Being within such close proximity of the amenities of El Palmar, this an ideal choice for those wishing to enjoy the advantages of this property’s own private pool and outdoor dining facilities whilst at the same time being within easy reach of the beach, its water sports and adjacent bars and restaurants. From the house itself, simply slip the catch of the front gate, wander down the lane and after just 600m you will find a butcher’s shop for locally sourced meat for the barbecue. Turn right at the end of the lane to discover two of the area’s highly rated restaurants, or head in the other direction to enjoy a wider range of eateries, bustling night markets and beach bars, the latter being an ideal spot in which to relax with a cool drink whilst watching the sun as it sets into the ocean.
Whilst all of this can be reached within a 10-minute walk of the house, a pleasant stroll of some 45 minutes northwards along the beach (or a 10 minute drive) will reveal the larger fishing town of Conil de la Frontera with its full range of amenities, fresh food market and attractive promenade backed by bars, restaurants and ice cream parlours. Alternatively, the pretty hilltop ‘pueblo blanco’ of Vejer de la Frontera is 10km away and the National Park of La Breña offers a pleasant spot for walks along the cliff tops, cycling and horse riding just a short distance south of El Palmar.
