The essence of MiPiso
As the name suggests (MiPiso meaning MyApartment) it's all about making you feel 'at home' during your stay.
The casual luxury of MiPiso, set in the very heart of Málaga's historic quarter, combined with the coziness of a home, will make your stay unforgettable.
Simple elegance, design, humour and creativity headline the smart, bespoke interior of this cool residence.
Airy and cool during the hot summer months and snugly warm and comfortable in the winter.
We have made great effort, which we hope our guests will value.
THE STORY OF MIPISO
The effort put into MiPiso
12 months of careful restoration of MiPiso was concluded by the end of 2017. We have been removing layer by layer of 'lived life'. So much history, so many souls, so much experience hidden in these walls...
We have done our utmost to make this place a Mecca for 'good life' lovers - and a place to be lived in by quality conscious people.
Our building is from 1765 and was originally the home of nonnes from the religious communities of the churches, La Concepción and San Juan - one at each end of our small narrow street.
The building itself is tucked away in a narrow typically Andalusian alley. It comprises 8 apartments (and two shops on the ground floor). You will find MiPiso on the second floor with lovely views to the La Concepción church and the bustling shopping street Calle Nueva.
During restoration 35 tons of debris was carried out in bags of 20 kilos to be transported on small trolleys through the narrow streets of the city centre.
Having removed the old flooring we found a tilt angle of 40 centimetres from one end of the apartment to the other.
Everything had to be re-done, wooden prothesis were made to measure to support the seven balconies, thousands of nails we pulled out by hand of the beautiful 18th century Galician pine beams supporting the whole structure of the building - and now representing the most beautiful feature of MiPiso: The 4,10 m high original wooden ceilings.
Spacious entrance with stained-glass window designed especially for MiPiso and painting by Jytte Espensen.
The kitchen is made to measure in the exact colour we wanted with exquisite door handles from Design by Us and Buster & Punch, and handmade tiles. Scandinavian functionality is a must for choosy gourmets wanting 'a night in' creating a delicious meal for friends visiting. We have made sure that no kitchen equipment is missing (induction, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, Nespresso coffee maker and milk steamer).
Above the dinning table an amazing chandelier is the eye catcher of the room along with the original shutters and balcony windows carefully restored.
The living area
The living area boasts pieces of art painted by renowned Malaga artist Andrés Merida, exclusive contemporary furniture and a 60 inch 4K Smart TV. An industrial air tube is distributing cool or hot air through the apartment creating a wonderful indoor climate all year round.
The bedroom is spacious with a large double bed with high quality mattresses, goose feather pillows and light duvets, a workplace and a comfy chair, soft bamboo carpet and gentle colours. On the wall are two exclusive lithographs by Danish Artist Ole Bertelsen giving the bedroom a very personal touch. You can draw the blinds for complete darkness in the bedroom. During daytime the frosted glass windows decorated with palm leaves will ensure privacy.
We were able to save a few authentic marble tiles now embellishing the bathroom floor - matching the tabletop under the vertically positioned mirrors reflecting the tall balcony doors. Large raindrop shower and heating/cooling system enhance comfort of the en suite bathroom.
A wardrobe is not just a wardrobe, and for MiPiso we have chosen elegant wallpaper with feathers matching the window decor, which has made the walk in closet just as nice an experience as any other room.
The guest toilet
Not to mentions the tiny guest toilet, which is so cozy with its dark blue walls and ceiling - and stained-glass window designed especially for MiPiso.
We love mirrors - as soon as you enter MiPiso you'll know. We have hand picked every mirror and placed it with great care to get the very best reflections.
The Red Parrot
In the hallway The Red Parrot is not only a colourful piece of art, but also serves a collection box in which we ask our guests to leave their coins before departure. Once a month the money collected is donated to The Donkey Sanctuary in Fuente de Piedra ((URL HIDDEN)
