Hocko Pohorje is a very picturesque hamlet in the Pohorje region, situated just outside the countryside village of Hoce and 10km from the City of Maribor. The house is a short walk from Hoce Village, with fantastic views over the countryside and woodland. The house is very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for a large family of 6-8 people.. The ground floor has a big double bedroom, which can comfortably fit an extra single bed or cot. There is a twin bed room with bunk beds and also a bathroom with large shower enclosure and WC. From the hallway, there is a big utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, also plenty of space for sports, hiking and ski equipment. The first floor has a big open plan space with the kitchen, dining room and living room. All the windows overlook the garden and the furnished sunny terrace is a really lovely spot to take your drinks whilst looking over the views of the garden, the trees and woodland. Also on the first floor, from the entrance hallway is a big double bedroom with built in wardrobes and views over the garden. There is also full bathroom with bath and shower enclosure and a separate WC. There is a large sunny conservatory overlooking the garden with comfortable indoor/outdoor furniture and a table tennis table. The garden is beautiful, with huge grassed area, flowers and variety of trees. We have outdoor dining table and chairs, but guests are welcome to take the conservatory furniture outside onto the garden patio. There is also a big sunshade available. The house is served only by fresh mountain water from high up on the Pohorje, the stream passes by our road and continues to the village. You can stroll to the village where there is a local restaurant and small bar at the entrance to Hocko Pohorje, serving traditional Slovenian dishes. There is also a Supermarket and Pizzeria. Hoce village has other local restaurants, cafes and 2 supermarkets. Maribor City Centre is very cosmopolitan with it's beautiful historic buildings, café culture and interesting shops. it's just a 10-15 minute drive right into the Centre. In Summer there is a great open air swimming pool/s and gardens which is situated along the river Drava. Summer activites such as biking, hiking, horse riding and adrenalin sports are all available from the Pohorje sports centre, just situated outside of the Old Maribor City Area towards the Pohorje. For Winter sports, all three Ski Stations can be reached by road from Hoce village. You can drive up to Bolfenk and Areh Ski Stations and Ski Schools or alternatively drive into Maribor to the Ski Arena (Radvanje, lower station) for the Gondola and many other facilities. Plenty of parking available, there is a free bus service running between Bolfenk and Areh. There is fantastic family skiing at Pohorje with beautiful trails and of course the famous Ladies World Cup Skiing event in Maribor every January.
Maribor is, as the capital of Štajerska, the second largest City in the Country. At the same time Maribor is pleasantly small and set in the wonderful natural surroundings of Pohorje on the one side and wine growing hills on the other, with the river Drava wending its way through it.

The old town: Go for a walk along the banks of the river Drava and through the lively streets and squares, where history and tradition mix with dynamism and the contemporary. Let Lent, the oldest part of the town enchant you along with the Oldest vine in the world, the Old Vine House, medieval towers and remains of the city walls, as well as the square Grajski trg with the castle and museum, the square Glavni trg with the Plague memorial and the Town Hall, Bishop Slomšek's cathedral with its viewing tower, the Jewish synagogue, the Art Gallery and theatre, if we just mention but a few!
The city streets all lead to one of the most beautiful town parks in Slovenia. Climb up Piramida and Kalvarija, the town's wine growing hills that have marvellous views. And go down in the wine underworld to one of the oldest and largest wine cellars in Europe. By all means take a ride on a traditional raft, as this exciting experience offers an attractive vista of Lent.
