Here’s a sentence you won’t hear when you stay at Smoky Sunset Cabin “I’m bored!” Not only is the 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom lodge just a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the numerous attractions of Pigeon Forge, but it’s also packed with plenty to keep kids and adults alike entertained.
The downstairs game room is where much of the action takes place. In addition to a full-size pool table there is an arcade machine loaded with classic games like Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, and Donkey Kong. The large space also includes a new movie theater with surround system, auditorium seating and new 65" 4K Smart TV with Netflix, and many other apps where you can load your best movies with our High Speed Internet.
If you need to fortify yourself with snacks or a drink during your rummy marathon or pool game, you can grab what you need from the game room’s wet bar, which has a microwave as well as a mini fridge.
Up one flight is the main floor, with a spacious great room. Large windows in the double-height walls and the towering vaulted ceiling add to the open, airy feel; the burnished wood-planked walls and floor and the stone-surround fireplace give it a warm, welcoming vibe. Sprawl out on the plush sofas to watch a new 55" 4k Smart TV/DVD or stretch out on the rug to play with the kids: The living area is designed for relaxation.
The large dining table can seat as many as 12 people on charming log-style chairs, and there’s room for four more at the adjacent breakfast bar. The breakfast bar is also a handy spot for friends and family to sit and help with meal prep. The kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you could possibly need, even if you’re hosting a Thanksgiving feast. A gas grill and charcoal grill outside will please those in your group eager for a barbecue plus there is a table outside the deck for family to dine outside, play cards or just enjoy a glass of wine.
All 5 bedrooms have their own 42" 4k Smart TVs along with furnishings that define “rustic refinement.” Four of the bedrooms have King size beds. The 5th, with Triple full bunk bed is perfect for kids—every night will seem like a slumber party.
Making up the loft is the master suite, with a sumptuous king-size bed, a private bathroom, and most pampering of all, a jetted tub.
You don’t have to be in the master suite to enjoy a rejuvenating soak, you can enjoy the hot tub located on one of the covered decks. Especially after a day of hiking, skiing, or fishing, the massaging jets of water will feel fabulous. Afterward—or before, or any other time!— kick back on one of the many rockers that line the decks and gaze out at majestic Bluff Mountain. During the day wrens and warblers will regale you with song; at night the hooting of owls will punctuate the serenade of the whip-poor-wills.
Smoky Sunset is within the Covered Bridge Resort, located in Wears Valley, the so-called “quiet side of the Smoky Mountains.” When you stay in the summer, you’ll have free access to the resort’s outdoor pool and enjoy the most beautiful sunsets.
The resort is only 10 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, on a bike, on horseback, or by car. Less than 3 miles away is the Pigeon Forge Parkway, the town’s main thoroughfare. Here’s where you’ll find the Titanic Museum, Dixie Stampede, and other dinner theaters, a huge outlet mall, WonderWorks, and shops and restaurants galore. Also, less than 5 miles away is Dollywood; drive a bit farther and you’re in the neighboring town of Gatlinburg, home to the Guinness World Records Museum, Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area, the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop, thrill rides, and more.
