Details about the space:
West Temple Townhouse is a colorful and contemporary space that is thoughtfully appointed so guests can truly kick back and unwind. This is my second second nightly rental space. As the owner/manager I like to be hands on and make sure everything is up-to-date.
The kitchen is always well stocked: coffee machine, toaster, microwave, coffee, tea, cocktail shaker, salt/pepper, basic dried herbs, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, rice, along with a few more staples to provide the foundation you need to get started in the kitchen. There is a 7-Eleven on the corner open all night and Jade Market around the corner for specialty items - they have a great selection! Smith's grocery store, Whole Foods, Sprouts are a short drive away. Target and Lowe's are one mile away.
West Temple Townhouse (WTT) is equipped with high speed internet, a record player with vinyl selections, a bluetooth speaker, 28" flat screen TV with DVD player and a curated movie selection (I used to program film festivals). We do not provide cable TV channels, but the DVD player allows you to connect to your Netflix subscription and such. Each bedroom has a small radio with a bluetooth speaker. We provide hairdryers, iron, washer/dryer, detergent, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc.
The living room has two navy blue velvet couches that each fold down into a bed. When flat they are like an oversized twin or a touch smaller than a full. Probably not great for a person nearing 6ft tall in terms of length, but i slept on them myself for a few nights and found them pretty comfortable. There are mattress pads, sheets, pillows, blankets for each. Let us know if you will be using them during your stay so we can have everything prepped for you.
Layout of the property:
The entire townhouse property we own is a three story townhouse that contains within it two separate nightly rental units. Our little Studio B unit is on the ground floor ( a studio apartment with a private entrance, no shared space with WTT, and street parking) and the West Temple Townhouse is on the upper two floors (a 2 bed / 2.5 bath apartment with attached 2 car garage).
Interestingly, the layout of this townhouse was designed with nightly rentals in mind. Our building is actually legally zoned for nightly rentals - hooray!!! The townhome complex is called The Ruby and construction was completed in spring 2018. There are 12 townhomes total in the complex.
Garage & Parking:
The two-car garage has 6' 10" overhead clearance - if you have an SUV and/or a roof rack be sure to check before pulling in. Street parking is free out front on West Temple if extra parking is needed. Street parking is also available on adjacent streets. Typically it is not difficult to secure street parking nearby. The garage offers adequate room for bikes, skis, snowboards and other gear.
WTT's garage and the entryway vestibule are both on the ground floor. It is not shared space, but the vestibule does share an interior wall with Studio B so we appreciate extra quiet voices whenever passing through the vestibule for courtesy to Studio B guests. There is a solid core wood door with a deadbolt at the top of the first floor stairs of WTT unit for security and privacy.
Children & Pets:
We love to welcome families inside WTT, but please contact us first if you have babies or kids and let us know their ages so we can consider it before approving. The stairs pose hazards for certain ages as well as large pieces of furniture not secured to walls. We have concerns about noise with our unit downstairs plus all furniture is new and was not purchased with kid-proof durability in mind. There is also a very valuable painting on the wall. All that being said, we know that in most cases it will be OK if parents are aware of the particulars of our space. We raised our own kid in the townhouse for a year so clearly it can work. *We have a pack-n-play if you need one.
Same for pets - contact us to inquire on a case by case basis. We need to know more about your particular pet(s) and your plans during your stay before we can approve. Cats are generally a no as so many people suffer from allergies and we need to think about our other guests. If you are traveling with a dog let us know the details. There is a grassy area behind the townhouses for dogs and some dog friendly parks close by. We will try to say yes when we can, but we might have to say no. It never hurts to ask.
Check in/out time is standard:
Check in 3:00pm or later
Check out is 11:00am or before.
We arrange only for these check in/out times unless otherwise arranged and approved in advance. Without adequate planning time, we cannot promise to accommodate alternative check in/out times.
If at all possible, please specify your anticipated arrival/departure times when you make your reservation. Even if they are only general estimates at the time when you book we can always zero in before your arrival date. Arrival/departure info if immensely helpful in scheduling with our busy cleaners and it helps us better accommodate other guests before/after your reservation.
Sorry party animals, but this is not a party house. Responsible entertaining during reasonable hours is OK and we are happy for people to welcome a few guests and cook up a storm in WTT's excellent kitchen or grill on the back deck. With our Studio B unit on the ground floor and want all guests to be able to enjoy peace and rest up. Quiet hours after 10pm. Large events are not permitted to be hosted inside WTT for this reason. It is possible to rent the entire townhouse (WTT plus Studio B downstairs) if it is available on the calendar. If you have an idea for a modest event feel free to ask us about the possibility of hosting it in WTT. We are happy to consider it.
Guests in WTT may hear our awesome cleaners (or myself if I am cleaning that day!) enter/exit on ground floor when cleaning Studio B. Cleaners enter the vestibule and garage to access tools and supplies they need. Again, WTT guests can lock their stairway door for security and privacy. Cleaning downstairs typically happens between 10am - 4pm. If you happen to bump into our cleaners say hi, they are the nicest people ever!
We allow Studio B guests to use the garage for luggage storage if they need it between mid-morning check out and a late night flight for example. We notify WTT guests if/when we grant a Studio B guest access to garage for temporary luggage storage. We do not grant garage access to all Studio B guests by default. WTT guests are also welcome to use the garage for their own short-term luggage storage if needed after check-out free of charge.
