Between each stay protocols include cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.). SF Shannon is offering Covid discounts: on bookings made through our website, use code STAYHOME30 for a 30 percent discount on stays of seven nights up to 29 nights. For 30 nights or more, a 50 percent discount is automatically applied. Sorry, but discounts cannot be combined. We manually waive taxes on reservations of 32 nights or longer after the reservation is made. For guests booking through Airbnb, either discount and tax removal is automatically applied. The Chopin is a fully furnished studio apartment across the street from St. Louis University. Everything is included: Top-quality bed, all linens, fast WIFI, and a fully stocked kitchen.
Before your arrival, the Chopin will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You'll also find a range of cleaning supplies that you're welcome to use and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep our rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay.
Free permit parking is available, first-come, first-served. But you may not need your car here. This is a transit- and bike-friendly location. Numerous restaurants and bars, coffee houses, and all the amenities of a great urban center are within walking distance. This is an ideal location for discovering the best of St. Louis!
The Chopin has a smart TV with local stations, and integrated streaming channels. Log in to any services to which you subscribe. There's a large gas range, frost-free fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, cookware and utensils. Yes, there's a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
Dynamic pricing ensures competitive rates. We welcome same-day reservations if you contact us before 2 PM Central Time USA. Taxes are waived on stays of 30 nights or more. Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow pets at the Chopin. Smoking is prohibited.
The apartment is all yours! There is a shared laundry room in the basement, and shared lobby and hallways with other guests and residents. Located on the third floor of a seven-story building; you may access the apartment by stairs or elevator.
Parking is first-come, first-served with a permit that you'll receive upon arrival. Please note that demand is greater than supply. If permit parking is already full, you may park at any nearby metered space at no charge between the hours of 7 PM and 8 AM Monday through Saturday, and all day on Sunday.
Other Things to Note:
The Chopin has window-unit air conditioning. We pull the air conditioner out of the window by the middle of November to clean it and store it for the winter. We reinstall the air conditioner in April. If you feel like you need an air conditioner outside of this schedule, please discuss with us. We will do our best to accommodate.
In the winter months, the heat is controlled by a central boiler that runs steam through the radiators. The boiler is scheduled to run 3 to 6 times a day, depending on the weather forecast.
You may hear noise from the neighboring apartments, as the historic charm of the building does not include soundproof walls. We've had some guests complain about odors in the hallway, from residents who cook, smoke marijuana and/or cigarettes. We no longer rent to smokers, and want the building and grounds to be smoke-free! We've had this policy for eight years. However, when we instituted the policy, we did not force our residents who smoke to move. (Many residents who have lived in the building for decades.)
We typically will confirm your reservation during our normal business hours (9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday Central Time USA). If you need immediate assistance, please call 314-367-1106 for after-hours service.
If you're traveling with an infant, we have a pack-and-play available for a $10 one time charge. On our website, please select it on the booking screen. On Airbnb, please let us know and we'll send you an alteration request to add the charge.
“Is it safe?” Several of our staff members live in the building and have never had any problems. Owner Karen has lived just three blocks away for more than 30 years and absolutely loves her neighborhood! Anywhere you stay, whether in the city or county, you should be aware of your surroundings. Anywhere you park, you should never leave any valuables clearly visible.
Distance to popular attractions:
Fox Theatre: 6 blocks with a 10-15 minute walk
America's Convention Center: 3 miles with a 15 minute drive
Why the name?
The apartment is named after Kate Chopin, an American author whose most famous novel, The Awakening, was written in a home three blocks directly west of the apartment. Kate Chopin's home still stands, at 4233 McPherson Avenue. If you visit, be sure to admire the magnificent American Chestnut tree directly across the street from her home.Get the full listing »
