Our heated bath house is a short 1 minute (or less) walk away from the tent.
Located at Basecamp 550, an alternative camping hotel for the modern gypsy, weekend Jetsetter or outdoor adventure seeker looking for a comfortable and convenient place to enjoy the San Juan Mountains and their surrounding area. Nothing fancy here, just providing comfortable unique stays for visitors to our area! We understand that camping, glamping and no A/C isn't for everyone, so please make sure you've read through all the amenities and descriptions carefully!
This tent is situated among the other glamping tents with front row views to the valley floor that lies just in front of our local 14er, Mount Sneffels. Enjoy your front porch with two chairs to relax and absorb the views before entering your tent that is equipped with modern amenities such as electricity, lights, microwave, mini fridge, queen bed and fireplace. The tent is clean and cozy, furnished with hand picked items that brings the space alive! Keep in mind, we are constantly finding new pieces and switching things around when it comes to accessories and decor. The tent you book may have some slight changes from what the pictures show but keeping the overall aesthetic the same . That being said, the amenities will always be consistent among the tents and their descriptions in the listings.
Each tent deck has been milled up at our local sawmill and the tents are made right here in Colorado. Some tents have zippered doors that you can tie back and recently, we've been experimenting with the tent model that has an actual door. These tents do not have locks on them but we are a very secure and safe location that (knock on wood) has not had any theft issues.
We're slowly converting our old campground into an eco friendly camping, glamping and tiny home destination at the gateway of the San Juan Mountains. Please keep an open mind when visiting. We accept RV campers that can book anywhere from nightly to monthly, other Airbnb visitors and guests booking directly through our website. Constant updates are being made internally as well as on the surface. We operate on a very small scale so you will likely see Sam and Heather around camp, feel free to flag us down if you need anything!
D I S C L A I M E R: Also, don't forget you're camping! Weather can cause a random hatching of bugs, hot or cold temps can cause little critters to seek shelter and seeing as we are in rural Colorado next to a cow pasture, the wind can blow just right and you may get a whiff.
W E A T H E R:
We're right at about 7,000 ft of elevation and surrounded by mountains. This makes for intense weather patterns that can switch in a minute, very gusty winds and strong sun rays. Not to discourage anyone from booking, but the weather can be beautiful or down right nasty. Please check the weather for our area ahead of your stay and pack accordingly. Example: If it's February and in the 40's with rain, snow or sun, likely it will be muddy around camp - so please be prepared! We have a strict booking policy because due to our location, weather can impact visitors coming to the area. If you do cancel last minute, we have a 120 day credit policy you can use to rebook or receive 50% back and get a 50% discount on your next stay.
U P D A T E S to the property:
-Outdoor Canteen: Hosts 2 grills, a 3-bay stainless steel sink (summer only), propane fireplace, high top bar.
-Basecamp Clubhouse: Grab a cup of coffee before heading out for the day or unwind with a 6-pack of your favorite brew in our clubhouse! Multiple lounge areas with fireplaces, outdoor porch, wifi work station, and (our favorite part) a PacMan console!
*Clubhouse is currently under construction and is projected to be open by Summer 2019
-Metal Privacy Fence: Return guests will appreciate this newest addition, the fence! Our close proximity to Highway 550 means lots of traffic whizzing by, especially in the summer months. While the fence doesn't cut out road noise, it definitely dampens it and provides privacy from the headlight traffic while strolling about camp.
