We really love our home and neighborhood and think you will, too!
Our 3-story Craftsman home, built in 1927, is so comfortable and stylish. It's filled with beautiful original art, plants, musical instruments, and comfortable furniture. Take a walk across the street to some fantastic restaurants, a bottle shop, and coffee shop, or walk 5 minutes north and you're on Portland's iconic Alberta Street, which has fantastic shops, restaurants, bars and more.
Every room is uniquely decorated, from the living room with an old 1800s Swiss piano (that plays beautifully) and a Frank Lloyd Wright credenza, along with a wood-burning stove, to the dining room that has a 'cabinet of curiosities', full of small trinket-like art collected over many years.
Our home has a private mother-in-law suite that is one whole level of the house with its own private bathroom and full kitchen. So you will have two full kitchens and two full bathrooms.
The courtyard is private and a great place to hangout in the spring/summer/fall. You can turn on the café/string lights in the evening, make a fire in the fire-pit, cook on the grill, or walk around the other side of the house and sit in our 'sculpture garden', an area with a few raised beds of veggies (help yourself!), with sculptures placed throughout the area.
*The house is our primary residence, and are hosting the entire house while we are away. So closets and drawers will contain our belongings, though we will provide space for your belongs.
*We have an indoor/outdoor cat and dog that are otherwise in the house when we are there, which is important to note. That being said, we keep our house super clean and the animals never have gone into the mother-in-law suite (as we usually rent that out full-time through Airbnb when we are in town).
*If you're into kitty snuggles, we can sometimes arrange for our cat to stay. Just let me know ;)
We live in the Sabin neighborhood and the "Alberta Arts District". It is safe and family friendly. It is made up of an eclectic mix of beautiful and interesting houses. It's a great neighborhood just to walk or bike around and explore, and you may end up at one of our beautiful big parks nearby.
***Our house is a few blocks from Alberta Street with it's long stretch of restaurants, bars, shops, a co-op grocery store and more. Simply dubbed "Last Thursday", every last Thursday of the month Alberta Street is filled with musicians, performers, and artist/craftsman vendors. Also, every Sunday (May-Nov) the Kings Farmer Market is open and close by.
Getting downtown is a close 10-15 minute drive away.
We have two cruiser bikes available to share with you, which is a great way to get around! Portland is a very biker friendly city.
There are a few bus stops close by. Getting around by bus is quite easy. I recommend using Google Maps on your smart phone. It will give you options for traveling by car, bike, bus and Über/Lyft.
If you have a car there is almost always plenty of free parking right in front of our house.Get the full listing »
