As soon as you arrive at Smoky View Lodge, you’ll understand how the 6-bedroom log home got its name: The views of the Great Smoky Mountains from its wraparound decks are spectacular. That’s not the only spectacular aspect of this 3-story lodge, however. There’s also the convenient location and amenities that include a hot tub, a pool table, an arcade, and free WiFi.
Smoky View Lodge can sleep up to 18 people, making it ideal for a family reunion, a getaway with a group of friends, or a church retreat. Each of its 6 bedrooms includes a king-size bed, a TV, and ample storage. The upstairs bedroom includes a romantic fireplace; another of the bedrooms opens directly onto a deck—perfect for late-night stargazing. A 7th sleeping area has queen-size bunk beds, enabling it to accommodate 4 people. If there are kids in your group, they’ll love bunking here here; every night will be a slumber party! Additional guests can sleep on the sofa bed in the living area, which opens into a bed for 2.
Each of Smoky View Lodge’s 3 floors has a room for hanging out with family and friends. The loft’s game room includes a full-size pool table, an arcade, and a TV. It’s worth spending time up there simply for the bird’s-eye view of the mountains, the woods, and the seemingly endless sky.
On the lower level is a den with a large flat-panel TV and some seriously comfortable seating. Once you ease into an armchair or stretch out on the sofa, you may never want to get back up! This room also has its own wet bar; you can grab a cold one while watching the big game without having to head upstairs to the kitchen.
The main floor of Smoky View Lodge is home to the great room, which really is pretty great. Picture windows allow you to admire the mountains as you laze on one of the living area sofas or sit down at the dining table, which can seat 10 people (3 more can belly up to the adjacent breakfast bar). In winter you’ll enjoy gathering by the stone-surround fireplace for après-ski drinks or a game of charades. And the roll-arm couches are comfortable spots for watching TV or surfing the web via the free WiFi.
The kitchen, also on the main floor, is fully equipped with stainless-steel appliances, cookware, tableware, and gleaming counter space. Even if you eat most of your meals at the numerous nearby restaurants, you’ll still appreciate the convenience of having a refrigerator to keep wine and milk cold, a blender to whip up after-dinner margaritas, and a microwave for making movie-night popcorn. Smoky View Lodge has a grill on one of its decks as well so that you can barbecue alfresco.
Given how stunning the surroundings are, you’ll probably want to spend lots of time outdoors. Smoky View Lodge’s decks are furnished with plenty of rockers so that everyone can revel in the fresh mountain breeze, the singing of wrens and warblers during the day, and the hooting of owls in the woods at night. One of the decks has a roomy hot tub as well. After a day of hiking, biking, or white-water rafting, a soak among the massaging jets of water, with the mountains as a backdrop or the star-studded sky as a canopy, is paradise.
Smoky View Lodge is located in the gated Sherwood Forest Resort, less than 10 minutes from the Pigeon Forge Parkway.
