With over one acre, and 250 feet of riverfront, this bright and efficient two-bedroom, one-bath home with open-beamed cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, sitting right on the Ogunquit River, it is the perfect, peaceful retreat for up to four people. Modern furnishings and hardwood floors throughout compliment the beautiful river view (with possible wildlife - river beaver, dear, snapping turtles, heron, wood ducks ++ - sightings!) and make this home unique and comfortable. A fenced yard, three patio areas with a propane grill, a comfortable sitting area with a fire pit and and dining area along with horseshoe pits, all providing multiple opportunities to enjoy the out-of-doors!
Walk to town and the beach, or rent a bike! It is 2 miles from the town center and 1 mile to the Footbridge Beach (an easily accessible and quieter, beautiful sloping, sandy beach area connected to, and north of the Main Town Beach), downtown shops, galleries and restaurants.
Guests have access to the fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, large microwave, toaster, blender, drip coffee maker and a Keurig coffee maker (bring those k-cups!) Everything you need to eat-in, have a BBQ, or enjoy a clam/lobster bake.
High-quality bed linens are featured in both of the bedrooms (one King and one queen bed) each with their own TVs. Flat screen smart TV mounted in the living room gives you cable and internet access to NETFLIX and more. Bath towels are provided. Four beach chairs with umbrellas and a beach cart are available.
There are three patio areas, including a high top table with stools and a propane grill, a fire pit with lounge chairs, and dining area, along with a double chair swing. There is off-road parking for two vehicles.(4 if tandem)
Guests should bring their own beach towels, bicycles, food (of course), and personal supplies.
Guest check in is 4pm on Saturday. The property manager is available 24/7 for assistance.
This unique property is located .5 miles from Rte. 1. A rural setting on the Ogunquit River just a short distance from the picturesque coastal Village of Ogunquit. Ogunquit which means, "Beautiful Place by the Sea, is located in Southern Maine and is well known for its' 3 miles of beautiful white sand beaches.
Spring, Summer and Fall offer a busy vacationer's mecca! Ogunquit is touted as a wonderful strolling town by Down East magazine where you'll find many quaint shops, art galleries, great restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream and lobster rolls. Minutes away you will find picturesque Perkins Cove with more artisan galleries, restaurants and lobster rolls! There is a harbor full of boats offering deep sea fishing, scenic cruises and sailing. Perkins Cove is the beginning of the famous Marginal Way (one of Ogunquit's precious jewels) a one mile walk/pathway that follows the rocky coastline to the center of Ogunquit Village.
There is also a lot to do if you are not at the beach all day! Shopping, biking, wine tastings, sailing, whale watches, nature reserves, hiking, nearby picturesque towns and more. There is the very popular Ogunquit Playhouse with top-notch productions throughout the summer, as well as museums, golfing and more. From Ogunquit you can quickly access miles of sandy beaches, designated conservation areas and rocky coastline.
Autumn in Maine is beautiful as the changing seasons bring the opportunity for leaf peeping as you enjoy milder temps and a quieter seaside town. Dogs are allowed on the beach after Labor Day, so us dog lovers, love Fall! The view from the expansive rear windows of the property is beautiful as leaves fall on the river and the long light of Fall reflects on the colors of the leaves.
Winter has many attractions as well! While the town of Ogunquit itself becomes very quiet through the winter months (although there are still places to eat out and shop), Leeward Landing offers the perfect get away from it all. It is a retreat where you can watch the weather while snugged up inside with a good book, a puzzle or a long nap to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.
Visitors may want to drive, but the Footbridge Beach is within walking distance or you can take your bikes! a 1/2 mile from the property the Ogunquit trolley (seasonal) can pick you up to go downtown, to Perkins Cove or just about anywhere you want to go in Ogunquit. There is also a open air beach shuttle great for going out on the town in the evening.
Now renting for FULL WEEKS ONLY (Saturday 4pm - Saturday 10am) May through October. Shorter term available during off season months (November through April)
Leeward Landing is fenced and is dog friendly (well mannered, appropriately supervised dogs will be welcomed.) As a prior pet owner, I understand and appreciate the difficulties of finding really nice accomodations that welcome pets. We expect guests and their dogs (2 maximum) to respect our home, yard and furniture so that we might continue to offer our home to other pets and their people. We provide scoopers, bags and a can, to tend to your dogs and ask that you make good use of them. We also provide extra coverings for the beds and furniture to help keep the furnishings nice for everyone and insist that you use them to keep things nice for us all.
