As vice president of The Berger Organization, Brendan Berger manages the firm's one million-square-foot Newark office portfolio and oversees the day-to-day operations and management of all of the firm's New Jersey properties. Citing his accomplishments and business acumen, Real Estate Forum has named him as one of Tomorrow's Leaders of commercial real estate in New Jersey.
Berger was one of 21 commercial real estate leaders in the state honored by the national magazine, whose editors cited those under the age of 45 "who have made their mark on the Garden State and whom we believe will be even more prominent in the years to come." The honorees represent the varied fields of development, management, brokerage, finance and investment.
Among Berger's accomplishments cited by the magazine was the 100 percent lease-up of the historic Military Park Building in Newark. The Berger Organization had acquired the property in 2007, and full occupancy was achieved in April.
"In the City of Newark, we have seen a considerable amount of activity, with new developments cropping up for the first time in decades," said Berger, who is 30. "The market is doing better than it has in the past couple of years.
"I am pleased to be recognized by this prestigious real estate journal," he said. "This honor also reflects on our entire organization and what we have been able to accomplish."
The Berger Organization, a privately owned and diversified real estate company, has been instrumental in Newark's renaissance. In addition to the hotel, its Newark holdings include landmark office buildings such as the recently acquired 765 Broad Street, 570 Broad Street, the Military Park Building (60 Park Place), Robert Treat Center (50 Park Place) and the Fireman's Insurance Company Building (10 Park Place).
