|Property type||bed & breakfast|
Our farm is nestled in a beautiful, isolated valley on the western slope of the coast range of southern Oregon, with a pristine river named Middle Creek running through. Lush pasture, 100 y/o conifer forest, & a home surrounded by productive orchard, flower beds & veggie gardens, the land sits a mile below narrows in the canyon of blue-green mountains that face the sea. A place close to nature, of serenity & beauty, this is the ideal retreat from the hustle & bustle of big cities & busy highways.
The two available bedrooms sit in the west wing of our craftsman/lodge style farmhouse, which the farmers, Micha and Dan also live.
There is a tile bathroom with a sink and toilet in between the two bedrooms, and a private deck directly outside both rooms. The underwater themed tile master bathroom, across the living room, has a shower for guest use and is easily accessible from either guest room. The property also houses a studio building with a mirrored dance/work-out/yoga studio/home theater on the upper level that is available for guests to use upon request. Our living room and kitchen are shared spaces, available for your use at any time.
Myrtle Glen Farm is more than a mere farmhouse; it's an experience. Guests will also have access throughout our 27 acre property. Whether it's petting goats and alpacas in our pasture, wandering our 105 year old forest, feeding ducks at our pond, reading a book in a hammock in the orchard, perusing the fruits and veggies in our permaculture garden, taking pictures of bumble bees pollinate flowers, listening to owls call out against the canvas of a star-lit sky, or cooling your feet in our pristine mountain stream, the true value in visiting Myrtle Glen Farm is interacting with the thoughtfully stewarded forest and farm environment.
We host work-traders through the WWOOF organization from Spring to Autumn, we have breakfast together in the morning after the goats have been milked and the chickens have been fed. You are welcome to join us for this meal at 8 AM. We all have group meals for dinner around 7 PM. All meal details will be arranged at booking.
As noted in the description of our space, guests have access throughout our 27 acre property. Whether it's petting goats and alpacas in our pasture, wandering our 105 year-old forest, feeding ducks at our pond, reading a book in a hammock in the orchard, perusing the fruits and veggies in our permaculture garden, taking pictures of bumble bees pollinate flowers, or cooling your feet in our pristine mountain stream, the true value in visiting Myrtle Glen Farm is interacting with the thoughtfully stewarded forest/farm environment.
Interaction with guests
Our basic interaction is to greet guests upon arrival and make sure they get settled in and have all the essential knowledge of where things are and parts of the farm they are free to explore. From there we let the guests dictate the interaction levels. Because we are a working farm, we are usually fairly busy with farm projects and chores.
Other things to note
We offer vacation packages for guests. These include tours of waterfalls, swimming holes, and old-growth forests. We have fermentation workshops at the farm for cider/beer/melomel, sour kraut, kombucha/jun, and sourdough. If you're interested in wild foraging, we offer a wild fungi experience where we teach basic mushroom biology, identification, processing, and cooking.
