We currently host over 5,000,000 posts by more than 475,000 registered users including SMBs, real estate agents, insurance agents, loan officers, marketing agencies and PR firms across America. We have attained the status of a trusted citations and local SEO resource, with 20,000 - 30,000 new submissions per month.
Top partners include HomeAway, VRBO, Hotels.com, Restaurant.com and Veterinarians.com. Users include ReachLocal, SweetIQ, Imprezzio Marketing, CitationsPros, BrightLocal, Mass Marketing and thousands of other smaller agencies and SMBs.
We have an especial focus on real estate, and have developed a personal branding and marketing platform within A Greater Town for REALTORS®, insurance agents and loan officers, using real estate listings as the base, with automated distribution through Facebook and Twitter.
We help agents and LOs enjoy increased visibility in the search engines and social media, while connecting at the local level.
Now that Zillow is in the mortgage business, traditional lenders which lack an intrinsic connection to real estate media are at a distinct disadvantage. Our solution could help level the playing field.
Mortgage Social Boost - agreatertown.com/social-boost
We started A Greater Town in 2006. At that time it was difficult to find websites where you could post and manage content for free. My inspiration was Craigslist, MySpace and Loopnet. Plus a local handout booklet entitled "May in Montclair" which features all the local businesses and shops in Montclair, NJ.
My thinking was if we could set up a pattern like Craigslist, together with the creative artistic energy that was MySpace at that time (it was really colorful, creative and amazing back then - I met so many incredible artistic people from around the world, and there was so much positive energy and vibes in the community) together with the self-posting of real estate and discovery of treasures I found in using Loopnet (I was a commercial real estate agent at that time) --- if you could somehow merge all that together with "May in Montclair" and make available to the SMBs of the world in a small-town look and feel, with emphasis on location (because I always remember restaurants I visited in the past best by what town they were in) that it could be a winner.
My developer was a real estate client of mine first, and got such a kick out of the fact that walking around town I seemed to know everybody, that he nicknamed me "Mayor." Later, when we started A Greater Town, I named my account "Mayor." So to this day, I am Mayor of A Greater Town. :)
We designed it for humans (not search engines) and Google rewarded us. Almost immediately we started getting top results in local search, and I knew we had a winner.
