Casa De La Luz is a newly renovated light-filled and fully furnished town house located in the heart of San Miguel’s officially designated historic area - "Centro Historico". Our 2-bedroom home is situated on a safe and well-lit prime residential street which is central to all of the town’s best amenities which can be reached within a few minutes of flat, easy walking on scenic historic streets. This makes it particularly suitable for those who may not want to climb a steep hill at the end of a day out shopping.
The vibrant town square or “Jardin” is only a short 2 blocks away, as is the grand Instituto Allende. The best art galleries, boutiques, award winning restaurants, theaters, 5 star hotels, health clubs and spas are all within a proverbial stone’s throw, with access to heated swimming pools and tennis courts. The weekly organic Farmers market is a foodie’s delight offering everything from exotic mushrooms and wild caught smoked salmon, to artisanal Mexican treats.
Our house has been designed for the best of care-free holidays and vacation stays with comfort and function in mind. The decor is modern and stylish, with clean lines and accents of Mexican charm. Beautiful pieces of art and textiles decorate the home. They have been collected over many travels and years by one of the co-owners who is an artist and teacher. At the rear, a large sunroom overlooks the lovely herb-filled patio, and large windows offer amazing cathedral views from the top.
The main level boasts a modern chef’s kitchen with a large cooktop island and an open concept living space and dining area. This lovely space opens up completely to the garden patio for perfect indoor/outdoor living, a glorious asset in San Miguel’s climate! A garden “sala” or covered outdoor sitting area with Mexican architectural details completes the open patio space. The patio’s herb garden and citrus trees are perfect for fresh margaritas and mojitos! Also on this level there is a guest bedroom, with its own TV and satellite receiver, and with a full ensuite bathroom, a great convenience for those who find stairs a challenge.
As you come up the stairs to the upper floor, a breathtaking view of San Miguel’s cathedral spire greets you through 14 foot high glass windows. This “upper sala” living room has views of lush trees and brilliant blue skies, resonant with bird song by day and chirruping crickets by night. The large inviting living room has comfortable sofas, a fireplace, beautiful desks and a bar sink. The workspace offered by the “upper sala” is a haven for writers’ and illustrators. This large room has its own newly installed air-conditioning/heating system.
The main bedroom is connected to the upper living room. Waking up and taking in the view is the best way to start a San Miguel morning! The bedroom is comfortably appointed with a convenient walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom. It has a large flat screen TV for cozying up to watch a satellite channel or a movie at the end of a busy day. This room has its own air-conditioning/heating unit.
All the water in the house (except the garden) is potable drinking water which is purified and filtrated by a brand new pressurized water UV purification and carbon filtration system. Both purified water and ice are dispensed from the fridge in the kitchen. The home has two gas fireplaces located in the living areas on both levels, and electric heating/air-conditioning in the main bedroom.
There is a house keeper who will be available three times a week to do cleaning, maintenance and laundry. Our local property management company will greet guests upon arrival and deal with any concerns that may arise during a rental period.
The house has a phone line, with DSL Internet and Wifi. For home entertainment, there are two LED flat screen televisions and DVD players which are located in each bedroom. One of these is a brand new LG 55 inch 4K Smart television set in the master bedroom which is set up to receive a comprehensive range of both Canadian and US network channels, as well as some specialty channels via satellite. In addition, Netflix, You Tube etc are available via the house Wifi system. In addition, a brand new third television (Sony Smart Tv) has been newly installed in the kitchen bar area for added enjoyment.
Our house is particularly suited to 2 couples, or 1 couple and 2 children, who want to enjoy a holiday together yet want their own privacy at times. The main bedroom and guest bedroom are on separate levels, and have their own ensuite bathrooms. Guests and friends can enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the lower open concept kitchen/living area, or in the upper living room area, or in the outdoor sala and patio, or all of the above!
Our house is superbly located for exercise lovers! The nearest gym is located at the Rosewood Hotel which is a 5 minute walk from our house. At the time of writing, a monthly pass with unlimited use of the shower facilities costs around 2,500 pesos which is $130. For around $4,600 pesos which is $240 you can get an all-inclusive monthly pass to the gym+heated pool+hot tub. Daily and weekly rates are also available. All the facilities are very luxurious.
