Casa Belady is a romantic luxury suite om the upper floors of a hacienda-style villa designed by renowned Mexican architect Emmanuel Garcia Lugo. Located in a secure neighborhood next to the classic Paloma del Mar hotel, you enter the villa through a tall pair of carved Moroccan doors and Córdoba-style wrought iron security gate by Vallarta artist Miguel Orozco. Your spacious (14 x 17 ft) light-filled bedroom overlooks a garden of coconut palm and banana trees in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Its sleeping area, white tile bathroom and lofted living area nestle under a 20 ft high clay brick dome, and are decorated with colorful embroideries, dark carved wood furniture, and cobalt blue talavera tiles.
A second clay brick dome graces the huge tiled garden and courtyard, where you cross through rose stone columns from San Luis Potosi, through bougainvillea and fruit trees to your private spiral staircase and its charming Juliette balcony. Tall glass doors open into your elegant bedroom suite filled with textile art from Mexico, Afghanistan, Syria, India, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine.
Amidst warm shades of terra cotta, the king-sized bed (additional inflatable available) nestles under an elegant canopy. Hand-woven Mexican cotton macrame curtains offer privacy.
In the loft s large living area you can relax on hand-made leather equipal sofas from Jalisco state while watching tv (Netflix and US channels available), or work at the cozy table. Coffee or tea are available daily, along with filtered water in the mini fridge, and there is also a new microwave for your convenience. Enjoy a cool cocktail in your own living room or on your private terrace overlooking Bolivia Street. (NOTE: this guest suite does NOT have a full kitchen.)
The sleeping area as well as the living room nestle under a huge 20 foot high cupola crafted by hand from clay bricks. (If desired, a twin sized bed- extra firm mattress on a rolling metal frame can be set up in the loft or in the master bedroom for an additional charge of $15 per night.)
This great location in Colonia 5 de diciembre is quiet and restful, but with three restaurants within a few steps, and just a block away are 2 vegetarian restaurants, one that offers Thai food, a sports bar, as well as numerous taco stands and family-owned cafes. Teatro Vallarta and Ley Supermarket next to the beach are only 4 blocks from Casa Belady, and are surrounded by small shops and businesses that extend to the north end of the Malecón..
The Vallarta City Hall / Cathedral of Guadalupe / beachfront plaza / nightclubs lie a 20 minute walk south or 5 minutes in a taxi or Uber ($4 US).
Colonia 5 de diciembre combines the feel of old world Mexico with all the conveniences for an unforgettable visit. And because of the blend of people here - a large majority living here full time - it truly feels like a neighborhood more than just a tourist destination.
Public buses run to all parts of Vallarta for only 50 cents USA, and also to nearby airport, and many lovely beaches (Sayulita, Bucerias, Mismaloya, etc)..
