The Neal Cabin on the Fryingpan River is a modern cabin with all the comforts of home. If you like flyfishing, cross country skiing, hiking, hunting or just enjoy the mountain scenery, you will love this cabin. The cabin is 1500 sq ft with 9 beds and can sleep up to 16 people. Phone and satellite television are provided. There are outdoor decks on the front and back of the property. The upstairs loft which is accessed by a wood spiral staircase has one full bathroom, tub/shower, one queen bed, two twin beds and two full size bunk beds. A side loft room that opens to the open ceiling area has a full size futon which can be used as both a seating and sleeping area. The upstairs has two upper decks, one with rear access. The downstairs has one full bathroom including a Jacuzzi tub/shower and a laundry room. The master bedroom has two queen beds. The open living area contains one queen sofa couch. The large kitchen has microwave, dishwasher, range with oven. A full set of pots/pans, coffee maker, toaster, waffle iron, crock pot, dishes and utensils. Gas Grill located on the back Deck. The cabin is pet friendly and smoke free.
Things To Do: If you like winter sports, the cabin is located 40.5 miles above Aspen and 48 miles from Glenwood Springs and is an easy drive to multiple ski areas.
Sunlight Ski area is located in the Glenwood Springs area and offers big skiing at an affordable price. Adult day lift tickets are currently $68.00 per day for the 2016 season. This is a very family friendly ski area and also very popular with local residents.
Aspen offers the highest concentration of ski resorts in Colorado. Located within miles of each other, the ski areas Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk span 4,993 acres of the Rocky Mountains. Buttermilk is the preferred ski area for families due to the availability of family friendly skiing. All four mountains are owned by the Aspen Skiing Company, and one pass gives you access to all of the resorts. There are a few different Aspen area ski passes and lift tickets which vary in cost and valid time periods. Keep in mind an unrestricted season pass to the Aspen resorts typically costs over a thousand dollars, making Aspen the most expensive ski area in Colorado. Early-bird sales may offer you the best deal.
Cross Country Skiing along the famous 10th mountain trail is located just up the road.
You can literally ski or snowshoe right from the property. The famous Tenth Mountain Division Hut system, with 350 miles of hut-to-hut touring, has three huts that are close to our cabin: the Betty Bear, Margy’s Hut and Harry Gates huts.
The White River National Forest is a winter playground for snowmobile enthusiasts. The Eagle/Thomasville Road (FS 400) heads up to Lime Park near Crooked Creek Pass, via Burnt Mountain Road, for wide-open meadow exploration. Hagerman Pass is another popular destination, recommended for experts due to avalanche danger.

Horse Back Riding
Reservations for horse back riding may be made by contacting the web site listed below. Dale and Gale are wonderful people and have provided rides and day trips for many years. You will truly enjoy a day on the mountain riding one of their wonderful horses.
Fishing, Sail Boating, Wind Surfing, Kayaking, Paddle boarding, Boating, Water Skiing and Diving are all permitted on the beautiful Ruedi Reservoir. There is a fee charged by the forest service for parking at the reservoirs.
Drive short distance to Chapman Reservoir , Nast Lake or Ruedi Reservoir for a day of fishing with flies, bait or lures. There you will find a 14-mile stretch of Gold Medal waters of the Frying Pan River below Ruedi Reservoir. Fishing on the Frying Pan is exclusive to fly fishing and primarily catch-and-release. However brown trout in excess of 14 inches can be taken. Fishing above the Ruedi Reservoir Dam is not designated catch and release and both lures and fly fishing are allowed.
Opportunities for hiking are right outside your cabin door. Feeling adverturous? The White River National Forest and Holy Cross Wilderness are public lands. Popular lake destinations are Savage Lakes, Mormon / Lyle Lake, Fryingpan Lakes, Sawyer Lake, Chapman Gulch, South Fork Pass, Spruce Creeke Norrie, Chapman Trail, Carter Lake and Sellar Lake. Bring your camera and follow the many roads and trails to find the pictures of your dreams. Wildlife photography, Scenic Photography all await your creative eye. Please be mindful of crossing private property and keep an eye out for the wildlife. This is bear and big cat country so stay aware and never go it alone.
Bike along the beautiful Frying Pan River or go all the way to the top of Hagerman Pass. Another popular route is Crooked Creek Pass.
Four Wheeling and ATV VEHICLES
Although Four wheel vehicles and ATV 's are restricted to designated roadways, there is no shortage of roads that are available for this sport. Please be aware of private land restrictions and postings by the forest service.
There are several licensed guided river trips on the Colorado River through Glenwood Canyon, and the nearby Roaring Fork River. Options include mild floats to exhilarating Class IV rapids.

Most hunters rely upon Meredith Colorado public hunting and must obtain permits, adhere to harvest reporting, harvest query, please get permits for hunting devices and ammunition, obtain licenses and fill out correct online hunting applications.
The Colorado Hunting Season usually begins at the end of August for Archery hunting. Black Powder starts in mid September, and the Rifle seasons start in early October (please see Colorado State regulations for exact dates
Basalt Colorado is the closest town to the cabin which has groceries, gas and restaurants. There is no cell phone service 4 miles above Basalt and no gasoline or other services are available. The cabin is situated in the small town of Meredith which has around 100 residents and supports one community church. Please obtain permission from any property owner before crossing their land to hunt or fish. Public lands are available for all activities.
