This is Shawnee who developed acute, life-threatening pneumonia. At the ER she was placed on oxygen which is being delivered through the little red tube entering her left nostril. It is stitched in and attached at the other end to a portable oxygen tank. She was on continuous oxygen for 48 hours. She is now off the tank and is doing well.

Here is Amy, the nurse, with a beautiful conure on her shoulder. How could you not love being a veterinarian?

1 of 3: This cat came to see me with a very inflammed eye. The tissue under the eyelids (the conjunctiva) were red and swollen and the cat could hardly keep its eye open

2 of 3: When I carefully examined the eye I saw a grass seed poking out from under the eyelid. After numbing the eye with a local anaesthetic drop I was able to remove the seed - shown here against a penny.

A Scottish Terrier. They never listen because people over here don't know how to speak Scots!

1 of 2: This 11 year old chihuahua came to me with a large swelling on the bridge of its nose. When I lifted the lip I saw the swelling on the inside of the mouth in the place where the canine tooth should have been.

2 of 2. Although a little out of focus you can see the long canine tooth is definately present. It had not errupted through the gum and was causing a dental cyst. Once I cut into the cyst and drained the fluid I was able to see the un-errupted tooth and could extract it. On re-check 10 days later my patient was doing much better!
