Each bedroom is equipped with air conditionner, a fridge, microwave and toaster so you can have simple meals in the room. All bedrooms are upstairs, downstairs is the kitchen, dining/living room, Tatami room, irori room, engawa, terrasses and gardens. The whole house is about 500 sq m.
We live in another house a few meters away, so we are here when you need us but we don't interfere in your activities.
Our basic offer is weekly room rental, because we believe it is the time needed to discover Ishigaki and the surrounding Yaeyama islands, enjoy watersports, relax in our house, and discover the Okinawan way of life.
We try to give a second life to that old traditional Japanese house, by living there, organizing events and welcome guests around our passions: nature, kids, water sports and cooking among others.
Guests can use all the house, except the private area (see floor map in the pictures) that is used as warehouse.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, a big tatami room where you can organise activities such as Yoga or lectures, 2 terrasses and garden where you can relax.
We live in another house nextdoor, so we are here when you need information, but we don't interfere. We are always happy to exchange with guests and give tips about our preferred places and activities around the island.
Shiraho is a quiet, traditional village, with a few shops and restaurants, conveniently located between the airport and Ishigaki city. It is famous for its blue coral reef (one of the biggest in the world) and for some traditional festivals (matsuris). There is a beach nearby, but it is quite rocky, better for snorkeling than for lying on the beach. Ishigaki is a relatively small island, but public transportation are not very developed, so we recommend to rent a car or scooter to explore the island and find the best beaches.
There is a bus stop 5 min walk from the house, with direct bus to the airport and city center, but we recommend you to rent a car, it is much more convenient to visit the island.
We are at 10 minutes by car from the airport. The best way is to rent car at the airport and keep it during your stay. We have a free car park. You have also buses (one very 30 minutes between airport and city center, stopping 5 min walk from the house). A taxi from the airport would cost around 1200 yen.
To rent a car don't forget to bring adequate license (international license or traduction in Japanese of you license depending on your country)House Rules:- pas de bruit apres 21h
