Renting a car is recommended. However the car isn't needed, if you want to go to the free beach of Cremia, which is perfect for windsurf and watersports: the old mule track will lead you to the lake and to the must try restauraunts with less the 15 minutes by foot.
Almost all the the ancient paths, which were used by the bandits during the last century, start from the town. A day trip in the country, Palù and at agritourism La Canua, with a mandatory break for polenta, are unmissable.
