Surrounded by lush mountains our holiday house is the perfect place to relax and unwind in Italian country side style. Spend your day chilling by the fabulous 12X6 metre Finnish edge, slope entry pool or visit one of the many interesting towns in Le Marche and Umbria. Then have a glass or two of the locally brewed artisan beer or cold bubbly Prosecco whilst the barbecue gets going.
Col Buttero is a 200 year old stone farmhouse which we have spent the last 15 years restoring. It is situated 600 meters above sealevel in the mountains outside the artisan beer town of Apecchio and is within easy driving distance to several airports.
The house sleeps 6 - 7 and has three double bedrooms (one with a toddler bed), three bathrooms, two lounges and two kitchens. The house is made up of two parts that can be separated or joined together by the locking of a door and is therefore perfect for both families and small groups of friends. Rest assured that the house will never be rented out to more than one group at the time and will always be absolutely private. There is wifi throughout, a sound system and tv and dvd player in the downstairs lounge.
The upstairs kitchen isn't used much in summer but it has a coffee maker and a kettle for that very important first cup of tea or coffee in the morning. There is also a fridge, a sink and a cooker.
The upstairs lounge, known as the winter lounge as it has a large fireplace, has a sofabed which I understand is rather comfy and windows to both sides of the house.
The bedroom on this level has a double bed and a wardrobe and is right next to the lilac shower room. It has a lovely view over the pool area and a lockable connecting door to the castle bedroom.
The castle bedroom is so called because when you lay in the double bed you have the wooden floor of the mezzanin level above, two rustic wooden staircases and stone walls to the sides and you can't actually see the ceiling over by the window so it seems really high. This is my favourite room in the house. It also has a wardrobe and a chest of drawers and a separate seating area up on the mezzanine floor.
The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and a wardrobe. It is right next to the yellow shower room and has additional doors opening up onto the covered veranda.
The downstairs lounge has doors opening up to both the back of the house and the covered veranda. It has two large sofa beds, a coffee table, a satelite tv on the wall and a music system with two large speakers. There is also a rather large collection of dvds and books for your perusal.
The blue bathroom is also on the ground floor.
The downstairs kitchen houses the most important thing in the house, the dishwasher. It also has a fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee makers (filter, Dolce Gusto, stowe top espresso and French press), an 18 bottle wine cooler plus all the normal cooking utensils and pots and pans you might need.
There is also a washing machine which is available for your use.
The 12 X 6 metre swimming pool is right next to the terrace and there are plenty of sun loungers to... well.... lounge on. Please note that the pool area is not fenced off and children have to be supervised closely. Our toddler grandson stays here with us and loves it but we keep an eye on him at all times.
The large covered veranda gives shade during the day and then, in the early evening, when the sun reaches under the tiled roof, you can enjoy the last golden light before a blanket of stars lights up the mountain sky. There is seating for 8 around the long table and if you need more space for all those lovely Italian dishes you will prepare (or get someone else to cook) there are other tables to add on.
We supply the pool towels so that you don't have to use up precious luggage space for them.Get the full listing »
