SOURCE OF WELLNESS RESORT:
Sheltered from the hectic pace and daily chaos, the hospitality of the hotel meets the essence of well-being: the Fonte del Benessere resort is an exclusive place to regenerate the senses. We are just a few meters from the Basilica of Addolorata in Castelpetroso, in an enchanting natural setting, in which an unusual architectural mysticism surrounds soft hills. This fascinating scenario already relaxes body and mind: magic begins within the resort.
SANCTUARY OF ADDOLORATE:
Just a few minutes from the Villaggio Gioia rises the Sanctuary of the Addolorata of Castelpetroso. Its origin dates back to March 22, 1888, the day when the image of Maria SS. Sorrowful with her dead Son at His feet, she manifested herself to Fabiana and Serafina, two local peasants.
On the hill that dominates today's city there was a settlement of control of the Samnites, whose traces are still preserved today, placed under control of the sheep track. The defensive purpose of the site is confirmed by the discovery, near the Monforte castle, of remains of Osco-Samnite walls and by the discovery, among the ruins of the Church of San Mercurio in 1930, of an Oscan inscription bearing the name of "VALVENNIUS" . This settlement probably gravitated around a more important center that some historians identify with Aquilonia located on Monte Vairano (between the municipalities of Campobasso, Busso and Baranello) of which numerous traces have resurfaced, after careful archaeological excavations. A few kilometers from Campobasso, in the municipality of Sepino, there is another important archaeological site to witness the importance that this territory had in the Samnite period first and then Roman. It is in fact the ancient vestiges of the Samnite Saipins and of the subsequent Roman Saepinum of which the wide streets, the walls, the arches, the doors, the baths, the forum and the suggestive theater are very well preserved. The history of the Campobasso area is therefore inextricably linked to that of the ancient Sannio-Pentro and to Rome. The historical sources, date the birth of Campobasso at the time of the Langobardia Minor and more precisely, in the period of the Duchy of Benevento being toponymized as "Campus Vassorum"
The origin of Isernia is very ancient. It is traced back to the Paleolithic period even if the history of the city began in the Samnite period.
Discovered occasionally in 1978 during the works for the construction of the Naples - Vasto highway, the Paleolithic Museum of Isernia represents today the most important paleoanthropological find in Europe.
The municipality of Agnone, in the province of Isernia, has a particularly prestigious historic center, perched on a hill, at over 800 meters above sea level. In addition to the numerous churches and palaces, the inner streets of Agnone present a curious, yet unusual, Venetian style, characterized by the presence of San Marco lions, calli and low houses, as well as the shops, which "appear" along the streets .
The tourist who decides to visit Agnone cannot refrain from visiting the Pontifical Marinelli Foundry, the bell factory, in which, for 1000 years, "the voice of the angels" has been born.
