Who we are
From the past…
The structure dating back to the nineteenth century, was at the time the home of humble farmers, who got their sustentamento from it and put all their belongings in it.
The characteristic conical shape, which today represents a symbol of Valle D'Itria and arouses admiration in the eyes of the beholder, was typical of country houses.
Great importance covered an area used as a cellar, called "Palmento", used for the production and conservation of wine, inside deep wells dug there. The particular stone construction, covered with white lime, allowed to keep a cool climate in all periods of the year.
In front of the cellar, a closed cone attic with a small window, called "L'Oria", was destined to conserve provisions for the winter, harvest fruits, small savings and family golds. The house was all that was owned and contained the necessary for survival, among its many niches.
... At present ...
The dedication to work, the sacrifice, the passion, the spirit of sharing, have kept this structure alive, adapting it to traditions and customs typical of the times that followed, giving almost the word that echoes today in the "Trulli di nonna Palma".
Thanks to Mrs. Palma, who from her grandmother inherited the name in addition to the house, this humble and poor nineteenth-century house at the same time full of values and stories, has been transformed into a complex of three holiday homes (ULIVO, MELOGRANO, PALMENTO ) which hosts people from many countries, contributing to further cultural enrichment.
