Other routes, for the more experienced, lead to as many paradisiacal places, you can also practice mountain biking, which can be transported by cable car up to the top of the mountain and then descend from the trails that lead to Trentino and then reach Malcesine again. Monte Baldo certainly does not get bored.
Another thing not to be missed, our Castle Scaligero.
According to some scholars, the Rocca di Malcesine dates back to the last centuries of the first millennium a. C. More reliable is the news that a castle was built by the Lombards, around the middle of the first millennium d. C.
The castle was destroyed by the Franks in 590. It was rebuilt by themselves and hosted King Pipino in 806, who arrived in Malcesine to visit the SS. Benigno and Caro. After the invasions of the Hungarians, it became part of the Veronese bishop's fiefdoms.
In 1277 it became the domain of Alberto della Scala. He remained under the family until 1387. Interventions dating back to this period gave rise to the current name: "Castello Scaligero". The Visconti of Milan occupied it from 1387 to 1403. The Republic of Venice incorporated it in 1405. The Empire regained it in 1506. He returned to the Republic from 1516 to 1797. Then it passed to the French. In 1798 the Austrians took over the Austrians, who carried out substantial consolidation works inside the castle and remained there until 1866. From that year followed the fate of the Veneto.
On 22nd August 1902 it was declared a National Monument.
Inside the castle there is also the natural history museum of Monte Baldo and Garda.
Another palace to visit is the "Palazzo dei Capitani" near the port of Malcesine.
In Cassone the "museum of the lake":
The Museum of Lake Cassone opens on the port of Cassone, a secluded and timeless place. It offers visitors a display case full of objects used for fishing: hooks, nets, photographs of old sailboats, all exhibited in a non formal way, but of great impact.
On the outside of the museum, there are two large basins where the water from the Acril flows. Inside eels, chubs and trout give the idea of what the building should look like in its original aspect, that of a hatchery.
Gustav Klimt, Viennese painter, member of the Art Nouveau, painted Malcesine and Cassone.
Goethe talks about it in his "Journey to Italy", leaving some drawings now kept at the Castle Museum.
The historic center is a braided up and down of small cobbled streets where commercial activities overlook.
It is an alternation of glimpses of ancient houses, alleys and nature that surrounds the town.
Walking towards the lake, the port, the old port and the Palazzo dei Capitani are worth a visit.
Leaving the center and walking on the lakefront or the bike path you will find yourself photographing the village surrounded by lake and mountains: the photo postcard of the beautiful Malcesine that never ceases to excite.

The most athletic must know that the first paths already start from the village.
