Set in the heart of Piedmont, Viverone is easy to reach from the Turin-Milan and Genoa-Aosta motorways, 13 km from the Santhià exit. Viverone is well-known for its Lake, the third largest in Piedmont, offering numerous activities, such as canoeing, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, sailing, horse riding, and bird watching. Motor boats may be hired without a license, as may electric engine boats for fishing, and pedalos.
The flat is situated on the lakeside promenade, with numerous bars with private beaches, in the heart of the “movida” nightlife taking place every Wednesday and Saturday. A water park for children and adults is an attraction drawing many people during the summer.
The upper part of the town is set in a hilly area,, with numerous marked paths joining the Via Francigena pilgrims’ way, helping you to discover archeological sites in natural settings, going back to the Celtic and Longobard periods.
The Lake’s typical products mainly include: whitefish, a lake fish with an inimitable flavour, kiwi fruit and wine. The mild climate and farming land make the area famous for wine production, including Erbaluce and Canavese Rosso. Several cellars in the town will introduce you to their flavours. The old town centre is reached from former State Road 228 Santhià-Cavaglià-Ivrea which divides the lake from the hill. The Via Francigena pilgrim’s way passes through the town, arriving from France. The upper part of the town merges into the woods of the “Serra Morenica” (morainic ridge) stretching from Ivrea and reaching the hamlets of Rolle and Bertignano. The latter features the remains of a 15th century “Ricetto” castle and the small Bertignano Lake, a former source of hydro electricity and of historic-archeological interest, where two pirogues have been found, one dating back to 1450 BC. It is a fishing reserve.
