Goodrest is a Queen Anne style front gabled house built in 1875 and lovingly restored with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to its current pristine condition. The home has 3 bedrooms with one queen master, one full, and one set of bunk beds, in addition to a new queen size pull out sofa in the living room. Goodrest will comfortably sleep up to 8 guest plus your fur baby! There are two full bathrooms upstairs and a half bath for downstairs convenience. The kitchen is custom designed and was featured in Coastal Living Magazine. Appliances include gas stove, oven, microwave, custom wood paneled refrigerator with filtered water and ice maker, Keurig coffee pot and regular Mr. Coffee, coffee burr grinder end electric skillet. There is dining service for 8, with all utensils and plenty of pots, pans and serving dishes. There is an antique farm table in the dining room that seats eight to ten and a hand painted table in the kitchen which seats four. There is an ample living room with TV and very comfy couch and chairs. Two wicker loungers with ottomans adorn the charming front porch next to a beautiful weeping willow tree. The yard is lovely, professionally landscaped and maintained, and is level and good for children and games. A fully enclosed, shaded and roofed dog run with dog house are in the backyard if your fur baby needs his or her own vacation!
Located in the heart of charming Irvington, directly across the street from The Tides Inn, you can enjoy walking to everything this stylish, historic community has to offer. There are also two bikes available.
Foodies love our community which is home to a wide variety of dining experiences. Whether it's flip flop casual or dressy romantic, we have it all: The Tides Inn, Vine, The Local, The Office, The Hope and Glory and Dredge are all within walking distance. Other spectacular venues like Merroir , Willaby's, and Horn Harbour, with their stunning water views, are just a short drive away.
Irvington is a great place to revive the art of porch sitting and Goodrest is perched right on the main corner, a perfect spot for watching village life roll by. But if adventure is more your style, take a bike ride to the Steamboat Museum or the Dog and Oyster Vineyard. Hiking and beaches are available at Hughlett Point Natural Area or Beaverdam Park in nearby Gloucester. Belle Isle State Park has beaches, boating and nature programs for all ages. There is berry picking at Westmoreland Berry Farm and fresh from the farm shopping and pick your own at Dug In Farms. Nearby Kilmarnock offers full groceries, liquor store, upscale shopping, antiquing and library. Kilmarnock also is home to Towne Center Park, complete with the Music on the Half Shell stage and a dog park.
Festivals and Markets abound in this area. From May until November there is a Farmer's Market right in Irvington the first Sat. of each month and another in Kilmarnock on the 4th Saturday. Other events include the Urbanna Oyster Festival, Taste of the Bay, Deltaville Seafood Festival, The Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show, Shuckapalooza, Arts in the Middle, The Leukemia Cup Regatta, River Ride, The Irvington Crab Festival, and many more. And don't forget, Irvington LOVES the 4th of July! There is an incredible parade that passes right by the front porch of Goodrest.

Ever consider a destination Holiday for your family? November is beautiful in the Northern Neck, and Goodrest would make an inviting Thanksgiving or Christmas table. Get up early on Thanksgiving to join the Turkey Trot and earn your dinner!
Leave your worries, and your linens at home. All linens are provides, including 4 beach towels. There are two adult and one youth bike helmets. A bike pump is provided. Dog bowls are on the kitchen counter. There are also two beach loungers, a cooler, and lawn games. Losing power is rare but Goodrest is stocked with 4 lanterns and flashlights. A first aid kit is available.
There is a two night minimum with the exception of some holidays which require a three night stay. Reservations are not complete or confirmed until a signed rental agreement is returned within 24 hours. An e-document service makes this convenient.
