Located in: Burrin
Rhodesia House ( named because its previous occupants returned to Ireland in the early 1920's from Rhodesia now known as Zimbabwe, South Africa) it is 19th Century Stone Cut detached Farmhouse on 1 acre overlooking Galway Bay and the mountains of the Burren. It is situated in one of the most scenic parts of the 'Wild Atlantic Way' and is a five minute walk to the local sandy beach that leads onto the Flaggy Shore which inspired Seamus Heaney's poem 'Postscript'.

Rhodesia House can sleep up to 6 people in comfort and is also a perfect place for a smaller number. All of the rooms are spacious, comfortable and airy as is the rest of the house. The generously sized kitchen is modern and well equipped and has a large dining table that is great for big dinners. Downstairs also hosts a wc in the hallway and under the stairs there is a washing machine and dryer. The sitting room is large with an open fire with original fireplace which burns logs, turf, coal etc, satellite TV with plenty DVDs to watch. The hallway with its local Liscannor stone flag floor and its pitch pine staircase leads you to upstairs where there is a cosy chaise lounge to read your favourite book. There are a further three bedrooms one has a king size bed with en suite with a large shower, whb & wc, one twin with two single beds and another twin with two 4ft brass bedsteads which date back to the 1920's. The main bathroom has a whb,wc Power shower and an Antique roll top bath to soak away the aches and pains after one of the many hill walks to be had close to Rhodesia House.

Rhodesia House is in the heart of the Burren National Park an area of outstanding beauty and while being a perfect place to relax and do nothing the area offers a huge amount of activities and things to see and do. The near by sandy beach leads onto the stunning Flaggy Shore with a three mile coastal road that is probably one of the best strolls in the world. The location is very rural with cows and sheep grazing the fields surrounding the house. In addition to it being so rural New Quay also benefits from having the excellent seafood restaurant 'Linnane's' (500 meters from the house) and the Russell Art Gallery which serves really good selection of Teas, Coffees, Wine and Prosecco which is adjacent to Rhodesia House. A mere ten/15 minute driveaway you will find the bustling coastal villages of Kinvara and Ballyvaughan. Also within easy reach by road or water taxi is the lively coastal town of Galway famed for its Oyster Festival, the Galway Races and the great music played in its pubs. There are superb walks right from the front door which are great for any level of fitness ranging from the walk around the coast to hiking in the Burren hills. County Clare is renowned for being one of the best places in Ireland for golf and the courses of Lahinch, Gort and Dromoland are nearby. The surfing is outstanding in both Fanore and Lahinch where you are able take lessons and rent all the gear for a great day of surfing. A short drive away as are the Cliffs of Moher which along with the Aran Islands are probably the most striking sites to see in Ireland. The Aran Islands are easy to get to from Rhodesia House by getting one of the regular ferries from Doolin which is about 35 minutes drive away.
The Burren area is famed for its flora and fauna which blossom from early spring and all through the summer. the Burren Perfumery is another stunning place to visit with its beautiful garden and fantastic tearooms, furthermore you can visit their shop to purchase their luxurious skincare products, perfumes, candles and soaps all produced in the Perfumery.
For historians there are ring forts ,Neolithic tombs and a glorious monastic abbey Corcomore Abbey within easy reach as well as some beautiful castles and churches to be seen. If you have kids they won't believe the adventures they will have here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rhodesia House is surrounded by working farmland . There is a large lawned garden surrounded by mature trees at the back of the house with a treehouse and a trampoline and a BBQ overlooking the fields, mountains and sea views over Aughnish Bay.

Cars are easy to hire from the airports (Shannon being the closest). If you need group transport when at the house 'Burren Coaches' are nearby and can accommodate any size of group. Ask for details.
