Aloha and Welcome to my Diamond Banyan vacation suite in the popular Waikiki Banyan condominium hotel, just one block from beautiful Waikiki Beach.
My Diamond Banyan is a 600 sq. ft. corner apartment with exceptional views from all rooms and the lanai of dramatic Diamond Head and of the interior mountains and valleys, with their ever-changing cloud formations and frequent rainbows.
I Michael Sisk, the owner, am a full-time resident of Hawaii for 25 years, residing on the Big Island. I personally manage my condo in order to ensure that guests who stay will find it to be a 'perfect match' for their wants and needs. To do this I prefer whenever possible to speak by phone with potential guests so that we can become better acquainted and all questions can be answered to our mutual satisfaction. The success of this personalized approach is reflected by the unanimously positive reviews left by past guests on this VRBO listing; and also by the many guests who return to stay year after year.
Since its purchase in 2007 I have been upgrading and refurnishing the apartment to meet my own high standards: for my own frequent use when I need an urban respite from my very rural life on the Big Island; and with its future use as my retirement residence in mind. Rest assured that no expense has been spared in the meticulous and luxurious upgrades, including high-end designer leather furniture, original artwork throughout, and an overall eye for detail that reflects my lifelong interest in color and interior design.
The result is an exceptionally beautiful, comfortable and tranquil place to call 'home' during your vacation in Waikiki.
My suite is also more spacious than most at the Waikiki Banyan, for it is 1 of only 2 of the 14 units per floor with the additional sq. footage allowing for both a full kitchen that is totally out-of-view of the rest of the apartment; and a dedicated dining area with table and seating for four.
The kitchen was completely remodeled in 2013 and features all new stainless steel appliances; wood cabinetry with plentiful storage and pantry space; superior dish-, glass- and cookware; granite countertops and back splashes; and a functional and esthetic design that allows for the stove to be adjacent to the kitchen window: so you may enjoy the stunning view of Diamond Head while preparing meals.
Stainless steel appliances include a French door refrigerator with bottom freezer and automatic ice maker; a stove with convection oven and flat top with 4 burners; and a microwave above the stove with 4-speed venting. Smaller appliances include a coffee maker and grinder, blender, toaster and toaster oven.
My attention to efficient design in order to maximize utility and storage space in the kitchen makes my apartment especially attractive and appealing to guests interested in extended stays, many who prefer frequently cooking and 'dining in.' Frequent guest stays are for 3-7 weeks, with many of these guests returning year after year.
Comfortable furniture in the living room includes a 6-foot Italian leather sofa, a love-seat style twin-size sofa bed and a reclining leather lounge chair. The entertainment center provides wide screen High Definition TV,
a DVD player and a Roku Player for accessing free Netflix and other cable channels.
There is both free high speed wifi and free long distance calling to all islands, all mainland states, Canada and all US Territories.
The entire north-facing side of the living room is floor-to-ceiling glass framing gorgeous views of the interior mountains and Manoa and Pololu Valleys. Custom draperies provide privacy and shade when desired including room darkening shades in the bedroom.
The sliding door opens to the lanai outfitted with a table and chairs for enjoying drinks and light dining, reading a book, or just relaxing and taking in the gorgeous views that include frequent rainbows.
A quiet and efficient window AC unit makes air-conditioning an option. However the cross ventilation resulting from the apartment's corner location and the enhanced air circulation provided by the recently installed ceiling fans in both the living room and bedroom ( not found in most units at the Banyan) ensure your comfort year-round, even without air conditioning most days.
The bedroom adjacent to the living room may be separated from it for privacy by sliding doors. it is tastefully outfitted with custom window shades and room-darkening draperies, ample lighting and hardwood maple furniture.
The bedroom has a queen size bed with new mattress, large 6-drawer dresser and nightstands and both wall and ceiling mounted fans.
The bedroom opens to a large, well-lit vanity area that was remodeled with all new maple cabinetry, a granite counter top and designer lighting. A tall maple cabinet is well-stocked with high-end linens, bath, hand and beach towels, blankets, extra pillows, and complimentary laundry supplies.
This vanity is separated from the toilet and tub/shower by a privacy pocket door. Also recently upgraded, the shower has a safety bar on both the wall and tub, and the toilet features a bidet/washlet seat for added comfort and hygiene.
A coin operated laundry room is just steps away, diagonally across the hall from the front door.
An enclosed stairwell is on the other side of this corner suite, so there is no condo to either side of mine. This results in an exceptionally quiet suite with a quiet and very private lanai.
The recreation deck on the 6th floor provides a large heated swimming pool, sauna, hot tubs, barbeques with adjacent tables for dining, a putting green, tennis court and snack bar. There is also a convenience store and an internet cafe on the lobby level.
Beautiful Kuhio Beach (the east end of Waikiki Beach) is just one block away. This beach provides easy entry into the water and features a long surf-break wall that creates a protected swimming area of calm water--perfect for lap swimming and for those less familiar with the water.
The beach is an excellent place to watch surfers ride the waves, for long sunset walks, and, some weekend nights, for Movies on the Beach.
My luxurious apartment at the Waikiki Banyan is an easy stroll to all Waikiki attractions including beautiful Kapiolani Park,the Honolulu Zoo and Aquarium, the International Marketplace and the resorts and attractions along famous Kalakaua Avenue--the 'Rodeo Drive' of Honolulu. Churches, a supermarket, and shops and restaurants from budget to high-end are all nearby and easily reached on foot or by trolley or bus.
Waikiki offers endless activities for all interests and walks of life, including beachcombing, water sports, golfing, shopping and exceptional fine dining.
