Our convenient location:
From the back door of the house, going left takes you to a shaded pool. Walk to the right and you'll find a large pool that has more sun. Also to the right is the tennis complex. Tennis courts have an hourly rate that can be paid at the Tennis clubhouse located in the center of the tennis complex. The General Store, the only store in Palmetto Dunes, is a short walk from the Villa as well. It has just about anything you might need (including a great lunch and breakfast counter, candy, ice cream, beer... )
Across the main street in front of the store is a very nice restaurant named Alexander’s (good early bird prices) and the bike and canoe rentals.
The Robert Trent Jones golf course clubhouse is directly behind the Villa. It has a driving range and putting green too. It also has a good restaurant/bar called Big Jim's. There is a privacy fence between the building and your backyard but you can easily walk through the woods to the left of the fence to get there.
The beach is a beautiful 10-minute walk or you can drive your car there (lot is small and tends to fill up- it’s empty in the morning though so sometimes it's smart to park a car there early in the morning with all your beach gear). Also, there is a free "Dunes Buggy" service that can take you to and from the beach as well as other locations within the resort. The Dunes House is at the beach entrance with an outdoor restaurant/bar, bathrooms, and outdoor showers. Lifeguards are on duty during the day.
One fun thing to do is to ride bikes along the golf cart paths in the evenings. The course closes at 7:00pm in the summer and is open to riders. Start riding at Hole 1 right outside your back door. It’s a beautiful and easy (flat) ride but if you decide to ride all 18 holes, be warned… the course does not circle back to the Clubhouse at Hole 9! Look at Google Maps for the layout.
The Shannon Tanner Show at Shelter Cove is a very fun “family” night outing. On Tuesday's there are fireworks at Shelter Cove. They are pretty good but the area gets gridlocked so plan on being there a while unless you ride bikes or walk.
Grocery store – There is a huge Kroger within a 2-mile drive from the Villa.
