There’s plenty of room inside and out for friends, family and fun at this well-loved lakefront home. The owners spend a lot of time here, as is evident from the homey feeling of the house and the well thought out amenities. Located in a wide, quiet cove off of Jimmie’s Creek, this truly is the perfect spot to take a break from the real world and just breathe.
3 master suites and 2 additional guest rooms offer sleeping for 11 (1 king, 3 queens, 1 double, 1 twin). Additional sleeping options include a sleeper sofa, sleeper chair and a small futon if needed. Most beds have an extra mattress topper to ensure a great night’s sleep and linens are available if needed. The rooms are large and offer plenty of space to spread out and make yourself at home.
Upstairs you’ll find 1 of the master suites with cable TV and a master bath along with French doors leading to the 72’ deck overlooking the lake. The 2 guest rooms and the full bathroom are also upstairs, along with a comfortable living room with cable TV and a separate dining room. There’s also a cozy sitting area with a fireplace adjacent to the large kitchen so it’s easy to entertain and be a part of the conversation while whipping up a quick snack or full family dinner. The kitchen includes an extra-large island, which offers great storage, plenty of prep space and extra seating, and a separate kitchen table. Open shelving right inside the backdoor is a great place to hold snacks, towels or whatever you might need to grab as you’re heading out to the lake. The owners enjoy hosting large family dinners here so you should find it well equipped for your needs with plenty of dishes, utensils and gadgets, along with a few “home” touches such as a crockpot, large griddle and waffle iron. The gas grill is right outside the kitchen door and, along with additional seating and a great view of the sunset from the huge deck, offers a great option for lazy summer evenings.
The 2,000 sf basement has recently been finished with 2 large master suites, each with a shower bath, an additional ½ bath, a wet bar area with both a full-size fridge and a wine fridge and an extra-large family room with a gaming area, foosball table and a comfortable area to watch TV. The large lot and amazing lake access means the outside definitely won’t disappoint either. There’s ample parking in front for cars and trailers and the circular driveway leads directly to the private boat ramp, definitely a rare find on the lake! No need to go driving around on your first day looking for a public boat ramp or spending precious time at the end of the week driving to get everything loaded back up again - take one last sunset or sunrise cruise and then just back your trailer down the ramp. The cement boat ramp also offers a great place to launch kayaks from or to retrieve paddle boards and toys. The backyard has a very gentle slope leading to the boat dock and bulkhead area where there’s plenty of space to tie up boats, jet skis and toys. The water depth at the end of the dock is about 8’ and the cove is wide enough so there’s room to play or just float. There's a hammock in the backyard for those afternoons or evenings when you just need a shady, quiet spot. The house comes equipped with 4 kayaks, 2 paddle boards and a large Lily Pad to help fill your days with fun and relaxation. And the large lakeside fire pit has space for everyone so the fun can continue way past sunset.
The house is an easy 30 minute drive from I-95 and a quick 15-minute drive to the local retail area that includes a Food Lion, Ace Hardware, Lake Gaston Pizza, Subway, a gas station and an ABC store. This area also includes 2 waterfront restaurants, The Pointe and Watersview. Be sure to stop by The Pointe during the day to feed their “pet” fish, get some ice cream, play corn hole and take in one of the best sunset views on the lake. Some other great food and fun options are Tammy’s Place, Sarah Grace’s Bakery, and Norton’s at the Lake, which offers putt-putt, snowcones and Saturday morning farmer’s market and flea market. The town of Roanoke Rapids is about 30 mins south if you’re looking for more shopping and dining options.
If you’ve ever been to Lake Gaston you know what a peaceful, family-friendly area it is, truly a hidden gem. Although the holiday weekends are a little busier, generally traffic on the lake is very light, which is great for tubing or skiing or just looking at all the gorgeous homes. Jimmie’s Creek is a wide creek, equally suitable for a quiet evening kayak or paddle board ride or making some waves on that new tube or wakeboard. For those of you who may be new to the lake or just lake vacations in general, come see what you’ve been missing! Enjoy an extra cup of morning coffee while you watch the ducks that visit daily, drop a line in the water and kick-back on the dock or just float your day away under a beautiful, Carolina-blue sky . . . .whatever respite you need from the real world, you’ll find it here at Lake Joy!Get the full listing »
