WELCOME ABOARD THE SOLEA
From and around Kalymnos, Kos, sail, if time allows, according to our desires and the weather, peaceful anchorages in picturesque ports in the wonderful scenery of Southeast islands in the Aegean .
We decide together the route after having read the weather forecast.
If time does not allow the navigation, I gladly guide you in your discovery of different landscapes, places, and activities available on the island.
A robust aluminum cutter, ballasted, built in 1976 in Ranville, near Caen. Fast and very seaworthy, it measures 11.70 meters and is equipped with an engine of 55 recent CV and in excellent condition.
All around the deck, a safety net for children.
In the cockpit, a barbecue and a dining table. At the rear, a double cabin on one side, an individual berth to another, near the corner navigation and maps.
In the middle, a side kitchen with sink, worktop, and two lamps; on the other, the square (or room) whose table is convertible into a large bed for 2 or 3 people (2m x 1.35m), which will accommodate travelers surcharge, or 2 adults and 3 children.
The forward cabin is reserved for the captain (see map in photos).
I draw the attention of the team members, especially if they have no experience of life aboard a sailboat on the fact that the space on board is limited.
Particularly for cabins and berths and to the toilet. Whenever possible, guests are requested to limit their volume of luggage, focusing bags instead of suitcases.
Long guitar teacher (private) before entering the National Education, where I taught for 15 years, during which I led for 7 consecutive years a school-cruise association based in Marseille, "The Roads the Wind, "and performed escorts sailing between Mediterranean ports. Degree in sociology, I speak Spanish, Greek, and English plus my mother tongue, French.
Now retired, I live on my yacht in the Aegean, with my daughter, educated in college in Kalymnos.
I have over 30 years of sailing experience, and for 25 years I live aboard SOLEA. My daughter lives there since birth, 13 years ago.
It will take us probably if you come with one or two children.
She then be happy if your children or yourself wish, introduce you to the traditional Greek dances, which, with any luck, you'll probably an opportunity to practice during stops at local festivals. My goal is to share the joy of sailing aboard a sailboat among the Greek islands in the Aegean, like to share my love of this people and its culture. It is also the usability, meeting it in exchange for a guest to the maintenance costs of the boat.
LIFE ON BOARD - REGULATION
No smoking on board, otherwise outside.
The order and cleanliness is everyone's business.
A sailing experience is not necessary, but I expect guest-mates compliance with safety rules and instructions of the captain, and participation in the maneuvers required by their course options in navigation as to departures, and especially the arrivals.
Guests are responsible, at their expense, of everything concerning their diet: purchase and prepare meals on board, cleaning and washing, or restaurant of your choice - as will often be the best solution, given the quality and the low prices practiced in restaurants and taverns.
Likewise their dependents all cruise costs:
The stay in ports or marinas, water, electricity, fuel.
Details on fuel:
The engine consumes SOLEA, under normal sailing conditions, 2.5 liters of diesel per hour, and an average speed of 5 knots (5 miles / hour). Thus, for a navigation engine 4 hours, twenty miles, it will take 10 liters of fuel.
Obviously we set sail when the wind conditions and sea lend themselves to this type of navigation.
But the weather may not be conducive to a quiet and comfortable navigation minimum, especially for children. This can sometimes take several days.
Then I'd be happy to guide you in your discovery of this beautiful island of Kalymnos.
Both lively and wild and rugged nature, it appears directly after prehistory. And the islet of Telendos, emerging as a giant octopus to the beaches of Massouri and Myrties. Guests will enjoy the beautiful beaches and coves close to the port, well oriented with respect to the prevailing wind in the summer, or rent a car or scooter to tour the island and its many sights, or visit archaeological museum, or that of sponge fishing, or "kalymniote home," to know the traditions and customs of Helots yesterday ...
Kalymnos is known as the island of sponge divers, and one of the three largest climbing points in the world.
It is also the largest artisanal fishing port in the Aegean. The island is still very authentic and has its own life without being distorted by excessive tourism. Unlike other nearby islands, there always find fresh fish and inexpensive.
