During your vacation in Heraklion city, this apartment will offer you the most suitable accommodation, with breathtaking views of the sea and the port of Heraklion, but also the opportunity to explore the city center with its countless cobbled streets and indescribably attractions. From the balcony you can enjoy the endless views to the Castello del Molo (Koules), which is a Venetian seaside fortress situated at the entrance of the old harbour.
The apartment is located in the heart of the center of Heraklion and offers many amenities because of the particularly painstaking construction by me. It can accommodate up to three people. It consists of one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa which can accommodate one more person. It also has a spacious bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen allowing you to cook your favorite meals during your accommodation. At the cozy living room of the house you can enjoy your breakfast or even your coffee before your walk in the city of Heraklion.
Especially from the house you will love the balcony which features spectacular views of the golden sunsets over the boundless blue Cretan sea!
In my very humble opinion, this apartment will offer you cheerful, warm and inviting moments! It is for this reason that I request my guests to treat my place not like a hotel room, but like their home away from home. Please feel comfortable to contact me for any problem or information.
The fact that the house is located in the city center will help you a lot, as you get instant access to everything you will probably need. Very close to the apartment you will find many mini markets from which you can obtain the necessary supplies, many cafes to enjoy a coffee, restaurants for delicious meals with your loved ones, pharmacies etc. You will also be amazed by the number of shops selling souvenirs which you can buy for your friends and relatives.
The apartment has no private parking area, but in a very short distance there are parking upon payment in which your vehicle will be safe!
Within walking distance from the apartment you can enjoy walks to attractions such as:
- Lion Square: it might also be called the Morosini Fountain or,Liondaria in Greek or, more properly, Plateia Eleftheriou Venizelou, after Venizelos, Crete's greatest man of state. The decorated fountain is composed of eight cisterns and decorated with stone relief, depicting figures of Greek mythology, Nymphs, Tritons, sea monsters and dolphins, while the main basin is supported by four sitting lions balancing a circular bowl on their heads. It was left by Francesco Morosini, the Italian governor who had it built to commemorate Venetian success in bringing much needed water, through a brilliantly executed viaduct system from Mount Youchtas, to the centre of the city.
- Castello del Molo (Koules): A Venetian seaside fortress situated at the entrance of the old harbour. It was built by the Venetians, before the construction of the new Venetian fortification, in order to protect the pier.
- Loggia: The Loggia (noblemen's club) now standing in Heraklion was constructed in 1626-28 by Francesco Morosini, the same man who built the Lions Fountain (Fontana Morosini) in Eleftheriou Venizelou Square.
- Heraklion Archaeological Museum: It is one of the largest and most important museums in Greece, and among the most important museums in Europe. It houses representative artefacts from all the periods of Cretan prehistory and history.
It is suggested to also visit:
Palace of Knossos: The palace of Knossos was undoubtedly the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. The palace was abandoned at some unknown time at the end of the Late Bronze Age.
Cretaquarium Thalassocosmos: Come face to face with hundreds of species and thousands of living organisms. Be fascinated by their behaviour as they reveal the wide variety of shapes, colors, habits and needs of their own world.
Sailing: If you like the sea and you are looking for a unigue experience you could probably take a look for a trip with a sailing boat for a day trip to Dia island or west or east coastline of Crete.
There are also many traditional villages in which you can adore both the Cretan culture and the natural beauties of the island.
