Mas du Pla de Railla is an old Catalan farmhouse that has been renovated to a high standard. It is located in the heart of the countryside, nestled among peach orchards, cherry and olive groves.
The house set in over 2 acres is completely detached and offers total privacy and tranquillity, yet is only a few minutes drive from the “chic” historic market town of Thuir. The sun kissed Mediterranean beaches, cosmopolitan Perpignan, Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains are all within 30 minutes drive.
You arrive at the property via a long private drive bordered on the one side by an impressive 2 mtr wall of oleander bushes with the most beautiful pink and white blossom and on the other by a peach orchard.
There is a gated entrance into the property where there is secure parking for up to 5 cars.
The land is divided into several parts.
There is the garden that surrounds the immediate farmhouse and contains a large floodlit patio area which houses a BBQ and large table and chairs and operatres as an outside kitchen.
There are a couple of Mulberry trees here that offer the very necessary shade.
This area also contains a bed of roses that offer a beautiful scent that surrounds the property. There are also several fruit and nut trees namely peach, cherry, pear, almond, hazelnut, walnut and olive. You are welcome to pick your own, season permitting.
There are 2 other floodlit terrace areas so lots of space for large groups.
This area also contains the swimming pool that is fully maintained and provided for your exclusive use. Not overlooked and completely fenced with a lockable gate making it safe for families with young children. Sun beds are provided and there is ample room for sunbathing.
Behind the pool is a playing field which is fully equipped for football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and bowls something for everyone.
There are spectacular views of Mount Canigou, which is normally snow capped from November to June and dominates the skyline of this beautiful region.
You enter the house via a large combined lounge kitchen diner.
In the recently installed farmhouse kitchen there is a 4 ring gas hob with extractor fan,an electric oven a microwave dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
It is well equipped with every appliance needed to self cater. A door off the kitchen exits to the large patio terrace that operates as the summer dining area.
Sliding patio doors exit from the lounge diner onto another of the outside terraces.
The lounge diner is large and bright and houses a dinning table and chairs, a flat screen TV with a selection of channels from Sky (Sports is available) a DVD player is also available with several recent DVD releases. There is a log burning fire and there is also a 6 seater leather sofa and wi-fi broad band.
There is a hallway from the lounge and from this you can access the rest of the farmhouse.
There is a seperate shower room with washbasin and toilet.
There is also a utility room should you want to do some essential washing.
Three large double bedrooms all on the ground floor are also accessed from the hallway all of which have patio doors leading out onto the terraces.
All have double beds and are fully furnished.
The master double bedroom Parisian in its style, has a double bed, bedsides tables with reading lights, a very large en-suite walk in shower room with washbasin. There is also a dressing room off this bedroom.
The family bathroom is also off the hallway and contains a bath, shower and double washbasin. There is also a second toilet off this hallway.
There is a staircase from the hall that takes you up to the fourth double bedroom, which also has a separate dressing room. In this room there are two single beds, a chest and bedside tables with reading lights.Get the full listing »
